Working in mixed media...fieldrecordings, analog soundgenerators homemade "tossekasser" creating soundscapes, a,bi & non tonal pieces with or without instruments. Graduated with a degree in (electric) guitar from the Carl Nielsen Institute in Odense, Denmark in 2000.

Ayankoko is the solo project of French artist David Vilayleck, devoted to experimental music, sound art, noise, concrete approaches, and live electronics.
Active since 2004, the project explores perception, error, and the porous threshold between the beautiful and the abrasive—treating sound as both material and inquiry.

Deeply prolific, Ayankoko draws on Vilayleck’s background as an improvising guitarist rooted in jazz and free jazz, combined with two years of study in concrete music under Denis Dufour (GRM). While academically trained in listening and sonic morphology, he remains largely self-taught in electronic production, shaping his practice through custom systems and generative structures. He designs complex patches in Max/MSP, ppooll, Ableton Live, and his own Tidal Cycles code and functions, giving the music its distinctive duality—generative yet clinical, organic yet algorithmically precise.

Since 2004, Ayankoko has released widely across the netlabel and Creative Commons ecosystem, appearing on Clinical Archives, Amp-Recs, Headphonica, Colin Johnco Records, Hazard Records, TecnoNucleo, DrainingBeatsOnTheBrain, Dog-Eared Records, Echo Obscura, and more. He also founded Ayan Records, an extensive audio collection on archive.org that now includes over 140 releases.

Ayankoko has performed throughout Europe—France, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, and Hungary—in venues and contexts dedicated to experimental sound. His performances and collaborations have connected him with pivotal spaces and communities such as Café OTO (London), Halle 6 (Munich), Multiversal (Berlin), and klingt.org (Vienna).

Collaborations extend across multiple generations of the avant-garde, including work with Linda Sharrock, Norbert Stammberger, Klaas Hübner, Reform Art Unit (Vienna), Trashvortex collective (Paris), Engelstiere (Berlin), drummer Gerri Jaeger (Amsterdam), visual noise artist Lauren Rodz, and many others.
