Green Lion Crew delivers a refreshing mix of summer reggae tracks for 2015. "When The General comes to town, he comes to town in a shootout!" cackles legendary Jamaican MC Joe Lickshot as the mixtape begins. The first tune is a dubplate preview of the title track from the unreleased Mr Williamz meets Green Lion Crew LP "The General Comes to Town." Bass heavy with eerie melodies, thunderous reverb and gritty delay, it does not disappoint. Also featured is an unreleased Green Lion Crew & Cut Stone Records collaboration with Kali Blaxx.  "100 Pound a Kali" samples Carlton Livingston's "100 Weight of Collie Weed" and definitely has the potential to become a current ganja anthem with an inventive take on a classic track. Green Lion Crew- Reggae 2015 Mixtape

Solid Steel in association with Serato (23rd October) In Hour 2 it's a 'DJ Madd Re-Influenced mix' where the Hungarian artist drops a special mix looking back and deconstructing music he loved growing up. He told us;
"I had the idea to make an influences mix for some time but I wanted it to be a bit more special than a collection of tracks I listened to growing up. I came up with the idea to load the tracks into the software I write music in, and treating it as one long project the same way i write music: Adding and removing parts, leaving tracks playing or totally re-writing them. The selection had to be started with one of my earliest memories of music which was Paul Simon’s Graceland album which my mother used to listen to all the time. That definitely turned me onto african influenced music with the reggae and dub influences such as Bob Marley or The Specials soon to follow. As a teenager I was really into oldschool hip-hop and after I found out there is this crazy genre called jungle that uses sped-up hip-hop beats I was instantly hooked. I religiously followed early Bristol jungle and d&b, poking around old trip-hop, and discovering ragga-jungle through Congo Natty, where all these influences from dub / fast breaks and ragga vocals seem to come together. To this day these versions can only be heard in this mix and to keep it special, I think it will remain that way."

'The Rizzla Sound' is a full time mixtape creator , oh yess very old-skool indeed...  however &#!! here's what I do  ... mix-tapes maken in het rizzlab, is met de tijd overgegaan naar het aan elkaar knutselen van geluiden... niet meer zozeer zoveel mogelijk tracks binnen de minuut... wel de nummers iets extra meegeven... hier en daar experimenteren, af en toe ook vastleggen als ik er aan dacht... soms het origineel uit de context halen en een eigen saus eraan toevoegen.  Kruiden toevoegen, roeren, mixen, dubben... af en toe ook eens doorgeven ...
