An amazing second installment of Wavefront Music Festival has left Chicago crippled from a downright outstanding 3 days on Montrose Beach, filled with music, LOTS of friends, and one of the most forward-thinking rosters of music artists around, both local and national/international.  I was honored to be part of this flagship event once again, and I was ecstatic to play this set at sundown aboard the TyKu Solar Beatz Stage to a really healthy-sized crowd of so many of my friends and supporters.  It truly means a ton that you all showed me the support that you did.  Thank you for all the kind words and feedback on this set...  It makes me all the more excited to share it with you all now.  This day was proof positive that big things and big sounds can come from a small stage.

While we still face many challenges both globally and locally, things are moving in the right direction. It was a highly-anticipated sold-out show, 3500 attendees strong -- we were added to the lineup to open the room for the esteemed Boris Brejcha. While we're a relatively new artist project born in the summer of 2021 with several well-received performances including a main stage slot at Chicago's brand new Arc Music Festival, we've wasted no time in carving out a road for ourselves in the Windy City and beyond.  The energy in this room was simply electric, and it was pure joy to do what we do for everyone there.

Had a really great time rocking this Chicago dance floor.  Thursday night show + sold out event = recipe for a fantastic crowd and vibe.  Awesome response to this set, from the first song to the last.  One of those special ones that you want to make sure and get up soon after because people have told you they want to hear it again.  So here we go!

Sam Davies - Subliminal Sound - Episode 004 [September 2015]

On this bright, hot and sunny afternoon, I wanted to play a set during this outdoor waterfront music festival that both reflected the mood of a proper daytime party, showed some range for me as an artist and showed some depth in my track selections (some tracks are brand new, some are several years old), while still portraying the brand of electronic music I believe in.

Artists' festival sets always differ from club sets, as you're part of a much bigger lineup and have a much shorter timeslot than what one would have in the club, usually.  This being said, you really have to come with the kind of tunes that you stand for, as you only have the stage for a short amount of time, and you need to make a maximum impact in the time you have.

That all being said, I was pretty happy with what I wound up laying down that day.
I hope it shines through in this recording.

This means no pre-sets, everything is created by intuition. To catch the right flow he takes risks and expects the crowd to go with him. 

In his sets he combines music formerly known as different genres and he makes sure you don't know what to expect to keep you listening and become present.

"I want to touch on all the different tempos and styles and give it a real range of mood - yet sustain it all with a feeling of what electronic music  has been up since i was infused with its power . I combine the introspective with the melancholic; the high tech electronica with the old school nonchalance; the great and forcefulness with the shy and withdrawn".

This approach is not suitable for general main stream music lovers and thats how Anno Nu attracts his own kind of followers at his Conscious Clubbing concepts (Chocolate Club, Frontier, Club Pleasure)

Being musically born in Amsterdam he's influenced by an enormous amount of club nights, producers and Dj's. Never before there have been so many roads to follow as a dj and choices to be made. 

With the whole digital dj revolution sets tend to sound perfect and mistakes rarely happen. But a good set feels different in the beginning as the end. If you can feel a dj is opening up and goes into a flow you 

know something is going to happen. Never be afraid to make mistakes, take risks when you mix, create tension and surprise and become fully in the moment where the miracle of house music happens.  

There is no extensive track record, no releases, no huge amount of gigs and residencies but thats not interfering with his passion. "You are as good as your last set".
