  At an early age, feeling his undeniable gravitation towards anything musical, Roma Kanyan was enrolled in a local music school. In a short while he became the most distinguished pianist of his age group, competing and performing all over Armenia.
  In the United States he continued his studies at the Colburn School of Performing Arts in Los Angeles, with such professors as Luise Lepley and Daniel Pollak of the University of Southern California. After graduation, Roma further enhanced his mastery of the classical piano by studying at Mc Gill University with Gregory Chaverdian in Montreal, Canada.
In the late nineteen nineties the world of Jazz, being the classical American music, had a profound impact on Roma’s imagination. The interest in composing music, combined with fresh experimental ideas, led Roma to the creation of the musical group “Nartex”.The band consisted of Armenian musicians living in Los Angeles. The result was “Spirit World”, released in 2000. The original compositions along with the unique fusion of Armenian folk elements, presented a fresh color in experimental instrumental music.
In the early millennium Roma’s work also extended to the Armenian and Persian Pop Music circles. His contributions as an arranger, producer and musical director led him to perform in many different venues around the world including Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, Gipson Amphitheatre in Universal City , Klubben in Stockholm,  Royal Albert Hall , Théâtre du Châtelet .
  In 2010  Roma Kanyan’s released “INSIGHT”  album consisting of his original compositions which have existed for a long time. The reason that we have them in a final recorded & produced form, is because of virtuoso instrumentalist musicians like Eric Marienthal(Chick Corea electric band), Jimmy Branly(Chucho Valdes), Walfredo Reyes Jr.(Santana), Ramon Stagnaro(Andrea Bocelli), Richie Garcia(Diana Ross). Ramon Flores(Luis Miguel) and others. With a lot of commitment and hard work, these live sessions became reality in some of the best recording studios in Los Angeles.
Today, Roma Kanyan is continuing to pursue excellence not only in music, but remembering the importance of the will of the human spirit, he believes that everyone in the world should be heard at least once.
