Recorded at Sonic Arts Center, The Vocals are unedited and raw/unpolished. I used a ADK Custom Shop Cremona 251-T-FET Condenser Microphone into a Universal Audio 6176 Preamp+Compressor for the Vocal chain.

Carlos(Rafael Beats) sent me the stems before hand and I recorded ISVI's vocals on protools ultimate. Christmas Nightmare and Lions Den didn't have stems so he sent me Bounce files instead. Christmas Nightmare was more of an improvised track/writing lyrics on the spot. /freestyle

This was a recording and mixing project I did for Furi that ultimately didn't get released/finished because everything needed to be re-recorded. The reasons why I won't disclose here.

We (The band and I) recorded drums at a small rental studio at Mt. Vernon using a focusrite 18i20 interface into Logic Pro X. Drum mics we used were the Pyle Pro PDKM7 Drum Microphone Kit, that belonged to the drummer. We tracked live with the guitars and bass running through amp sims as well as feeding into the in ear mix for the drummer.

The amp sims were Positive Grid BIAS, but they were ultimately scrapped for real amps. I migrated the project to Pro Tools 12, in order to beat map it as well as prepare it for overdub and reamp session. We overdubbed some guitars and solos at my home studio using my Vox amp. We mic'ed up two guitar cabinets a Vox 2x12 and a Marshall 4x12 with my Vox acting as an amp head. We used two mics an Shure SM57 tilted off axis facing away from the cone of the speaker and a Sterling S30 condenser mic pointing towards the edge of the speaker. I ultimately scrapped the S30 during the mixing process due to the SM57 sounding better. We used both mics per cabinet, just reamping and readjusting. The rhythm tones used the marshall cabinet while the lead and clean tones used the vox cabinet. The bass was reamped through the same process. We also recorded vocals over the song but they weren't used as the band asked me to mix it instrumentally. I was also given some sfx as well as the synth intro given to me to implement into the mixing stage.

In the mixing stage, I migrated the project back to Logic Pro X due to the request of one of the guitarists who also use Logic Pro X. The mix process was lengthy but here are some interesting pointers I did during the mix phase. I added some midi synth droned bass notes in order to fill in certain gaps when the bass is playing more "leady" textures as well as some holes. I side chained compressed the bass drum into the kick using a multi-band compressor. I also partitioned the frequencies of the kick drum by duplicating it and separating it via filter eq's and shelves. Every plugin used in this mix uses the default logic pro x plugins, that way the project can be opened by the other guitarist.

Recording/Mixing Project: "Kraken" -- Furi (2019)

Mixed a project for my friend Elli.e, she did a cover of "Settle Down" by The 1975.

Most of the mix was basic eq and comp, as well as reverbs and delays. Some cool things I did was placed a saturation/distortion using the Soundtoys' Decapitator plug-in on an aux and sent some tracks into and mixed it in with send levels. This gave certain tracks some girth. In the breakdown section, I added a chorus on the Piano via aux send, then on that aux track I sent it to the delay. I placed a really high HPF that chorus aux too just so that only the high notes will get the chorus effect. Really wish that there's a multiband chorus plug-in now. On the electric guitar on that same section I added a stereo spread (Waves PS-22) in addition to make it wide in conjunction with the reverb. The delay on it is on the insert instead because it had a specific delay time that we we're trying to achieve.

Mix Project: Settle Down (Cover) -- Elli.e (2019)

This is a Recording Session I did with the band The Wrong Company in the Sonic Arts Center. All the recordings are done in a live room, with the band playing together. We had a click/tempo-map but the band needed more time to practice together with an actual click. So in the end I decided to let them just play live together.

The drums is a Sonor, S Classix Series. Kick drum is mic'd with a shure Beta 91A as a kick in and an AKG D112 MKII on the kick out. Snare top is mic'ed with an SM57 but the bottom is mic'ed with a Sennheiser MD441, The drummer (Conor) used 1 rack tom which is mic'ed with a Shure Beta 98AMP and the floor tom which is mic'ed with a Sennheiser MD421. Overheads we mic'd using Drummer's Perspective with Audio Technica 4047's in an ORTF Pattern. Room mic's are a pair of Earthworks QTC40's in an Audience's Persepective. All the drums mic's ran into 10 channels of API 3124+ Preamps into a Yamaha DM2000 Console's Inserts where I mixed them before hitting Pro Tools

The Bass is tracked with the DI signal and a SANSAMP effect signal both into two channels of API 3124 preamps through the DM2000 again and mixed with the drums. I setup Gobos for the Bassist (John) because He also sung, his vocal mic is an SM7b into a TL Audio Tube Preamp with a compressor. Vocal mic was also sent to the DM2000

The Guitar ran through a DI and into a splitter, where I remote amped into a separate Iso booth. The amp mic's are an SM57 and a royer 121 blended into the dm2000,  The Guitar DI and the Amp Mic's also ran into Neve Portico 5024, Preamps with the "silk" button engaged. The amps used are as follows: A Badcat Cub II for the song "Mirror" and a Marshall JCM800 with a Maxon OD pedal in front for "Delusion"

I chose take 1 for Delusion and Take 3 for mirror even though there were better takes, I felt as if these showcased the "live" aspect of live recording. The session is recorded on Protools as an 88k session
