These guys sure are ones to look out for.

For this week’s guest mix we are majorly gassed to showcase an unbelievably talented DJ, Tañ.

In the past year, Tanya has been making serious waves in the UK’s electronic scene. Her versatility and consistency has secured Tanya slots on Rinse FM and NTS Radio. In her own words: 

“I’m a Leeds based DJ and resident at UKG night, Spin City. My music taste is pretty much anything goes but I’m mostly drawn to high energy, fast paced tunes that get you sweating on the dance floor. The general ethos is to up the tempo and just have a good time. So for this mix I tried to include as much of that variety as I could, with some unreleased and forthcoming bits.”

The throb of a kick drum, a sub bass pulse, that hit to your solar plexus - it's something that's undeniably irresistible. Maybe this focus on 'the thud' was built into humans eons ago in the primordial swamp? Maybe our brains are just bloody broken? Either way local producer @burna1 has truly embraced this train of thought ahead of playing our NYE party with the 41st Shell Tape - "Made to Bump."

As December starts to toddle towards knock off o'clock it's time to get serious about partying and that's exactly what happens in this mix. Lithely snaking his way through pretty much any genre you could associate with term 'bass music,' Burna cracks the whip as he drives this rave laden wagon, keeping energy high, frequencies low and dancers on their toes with mix of classics, the freshest freshies and dubplates you probably won't be finding without a Tor browser.

Dark web originating bootlegs aside, this hour and a bit comes hard with the tunes, running from jelly-leg inducing garage to pop 'n' locking electro, sidestepping into warehouse ready UK rave sounds and skidding over to grab a piece of slightly more abstract 'left-field' bass sounds before looping back to do it all over again. This is one for late nights, low lights and steamy rooms. Download a strobe light app for your phone and party on.

DRIFT 027 comes direct from a rising star of UK electronica and one of the brightest talents in Liverpool’s eclectic scene. Booked for Brighton’s The Great Escape Festival earlier this year following the self-release of her debut EP ‘Hello Earth’, NIIX has also performed live at prestigious venues across the country and further afield such as Berlin's Bar Bobu. She also hosts a fantastic show on Melodic Distraction exploring the deep and immersive world of deconstructed club sounds, which I became aware of after starting my own show on the Liverpool station last year.

Her original material has received radio-play on BBC 6 Music, Amazing Radio, Noods and Worldwide FM. Most recently, she has released her first dance track ‘VENTUS' on Manchester-based label Shifting Spheres, which was premiered by Analog Advisory and featured on EARMILK. This was followed by a brand new 'Hello Earth: Remixes' EP released at the end of last year, featuring 5 club-ready reworks from an array of North West producers including Stealing Sheep. For her DRIFT mix, NIIX brings a collection of dreamy sounds she has discovered and fallen in love with over the past year. There's a focus on vocals and choral sounds, which is something she has been exploring in her own production recently. You'll also hear nestled in there a handful of field recordings from her time in India, reminiscing of what once was and hoping what could soon be again.
