What a year it has been for Curses, in October of last year he released his debut album on Dischi Autunno, and has since released on Wrong Era and Tusk Wax. 

Alongside releasing a growing number of powerful productions, Curses is also playing week in week out as both a DJ and as a live act, weaving between darker disco, EBM and post punk influenced tracks. 

His distinctly dark sound can be heard throughout this mix. With his own productions scattered throughout, we are given a look into what you can expect from a party with Curses.

@DemiRiquisimo is returning to his in-house imprint, Semi Delicious, with his second EP and ready to pick up where he left off with the aptly titled ‘Mysterious EP’, dropping today (3rd May 2019). The only vinyl release imprint saw his first EP lock in huge support from names like Optimo, Rex The Dog, Horse Meat Disco, Theo Kottis, Skream, Loods, Auntie Flo, Simian Mobile Disco and Tensnake, and even a coveted premiere on BBC Radio 1 by Pete Tong himself, while this one did not fail to get the attention of the infamous BBC1 “Danny Howard” claiming that he knew little about Demi but quite literally he would have played all the four tracks after receiving this EP in his inbox.

Opening with Pa De Chevaux, the chugging Bootsy Collins-style topline bass works in harmony with the vocal sample to create something so deliciously funky that you’ll still be moving long after the track ends. Fans of A Lifetime On The Hips are in for a treat on A2 as Certified revives the former’s stomping 4/4 kick and delivers one of the naughtiest modulated acid-arp basslines to ever grace the dancefloor. Enter lush chords, dreamy vocal sampling and wonderfully pacey hi-hats, and you’ve got one of the EP’s strongest tracks.

On the B-side, the quality doesn’t let up and you’re reminded that each track could easily be the lead. The title track, Mysterious, is a clear follow-up to Sarong Song with the perfect combination of acid basslines, 808 kicks and an array of live strings, organs, and horns mixed in to pack plenty of punch. Tagine Machine leads with an afro-centric percussive intro before delving into the depths of tough, synth-laden electro-disco. Inspired by a trip to Morocco and the sights and sounds that the souks of Marrakesh are filled with, Tagine Machine reflects the breadth of Demi’s musical inspiration. Bringing together elements of acid, disco, house and everything in-between, Demi Riquísimo once again demonstrates why he’s quickly becoming one of the most exciting talents on the scene.

"When you come from a place where everything collides in the worst and the best way, confusion comes with a price - it's either a bigger confusion or a huge relief". These are Ece's first words in her bio. Being an excellent DJ, Podcast-Host (Özel Zevkler) and shared mastermind behind a killer label (Müstesna Records) from Istanbul, we were fascinated to see what places this sentiment would lead Ece on her musical journey. 

For 5918mins. she delves in experimental and frigid realms, where change is constant and nothing is set in stone - meandering between beat, sound, noise and melody. Maybe, then, confusion and relief go hand in hand sometimes after all.

Number 22 is a psychedelic dance excursion brought to you by the wonderful Space Cadets from Leeds, a few words from them:

"This was recorded between 3-7am at one of the coolest clubs we've ever been to, River Port in Kyiv. Super up for it crowd, incredible sound and some SERIOUS energy in the room so we were just playing off that. 2 for 2 the whole way through, with Adam kicking things off. Was an absolute pleasure to just play our favourite records one after the other to a room that appreciated them as much as we do, and having 4 hours (and an after party in Closer) to do it was the icing on the cake. 

We had such a great time in Kyiv, met so many cool people and slept about 4 hours between us in as many days. Big shouts to all the DJs who played alongside us and the ZHAR promoters for their amazing hospitality. One of those weekends that reminds you why you love going out in the first place and gives you fresh inspiration and energy for weeks afterwards. Definitely an experience that'll stay with us forever!"

Exclusive Pale Blue - Breathe (Lauren Flax Remix)

Elizabeth Wight and Mike Simonetti alias Pale Blue hit us with the release of their latest track Breathe on 2MR a few days back as Elizabeth Wight refers to some of the darkest chapters of her life to come up with a brutally honest and vigorous message people out there need to hear, need to think about and need to reflect. The New Yorkers, known for raw political messages in their partly peak time music, once again deliver a catchy dramatic piece of music, whose chords not ony remain in one's ear but rather stay on your mind for a long time: in a ruthlessly honest manner. With the original composition of Breathe, a remix of Olive T and two more original tracks, namely I Walk Alone At Night and I Wallk Alone With Acid. Now Brooklyn-based producer Lauren Flax finally releases her remix approach of the track, which focusses on crystal-clear icey chords with a deep note and implements selected bits of Elizabeth's vocals. The result is a intriguing and meaningful deeply-touching and dubby approach that radiates warmth in the icy cold.

Lauren Flax's remix for Pale Blue's track Breathe will be released on 2MR on April 3rd, 2020.
