Mystery Kid - Terror Creator (Astore Remix)

Vintage synth fetishist Italo Brutalo brings you his superb sophomore album Second Horizon, released 29th May on his and his girlfriend very own Bungalo Disco label. The German producer possesses an incredible armoury of retro analogue synths, and he certainly knows how to use them. And push them to their limits. Congratulations, listener. You are about to step into an alternate electronic universe.

Kicking off with City Sight, every synth is a joy. Warm tones, clear, crisp symbols and snares. A beautiful melody intertwined with acid tweaks and dreamy vocoder vocals, sounding almost more keys than voice. And that 80s drum machine line. There are five different decades where this modern classic would feel right at home.

You want it darker? Here comes Memory Sync, bursting through your loading screen like an end of level baddy. Press ‘play’ and you will know exactly what I mean. The hi hat and kick drum pattern on Digital Freedom is to die for, the acid bass and Italo disco melody giving your day an instant serotonin boost.

Surveillance State kicks the tempo up more than a notch, this eerie 3-D soundscape literally makes you feel as though you are being watched by a Machiavellian force. You can literally feel the paranoia oozing from your speakers. Technology is like a souped-up Kraftwerk 33 played on 45. Close your eyes and imagine stop-frame footage of robots in a car factory. Just brilliant. Heiss Oder Kalt (Hot Or Cold) is a perfect title for this lush mix of warm and cool synths, with a vocal sample reminiscent of a mad scientist.

Chasing Shadows, The first single to be released from Second Horizon, is just damn well exciting. It’s like you’re driving K.I.T.T. on turbo boost, in pursuit of the Midnight Express. Strap yourself in as Italo Brutalo hits the TB-303 button on the console for an acid fuel injection. Just when you thought it couldn’t get better, the joyous robotic vocal kicks in. I dare you to try and stay still whilst Chasing Shadows plays. It’s impossible.

Free To Move takes the tempo down a notch, robotic melodies dancing with each other in beautiful synchronicity, giving life to a beautiful android, leading perfectly into Black Gold, a soundscape rich enough to deserve to grace a Hollywood masterpiece.

Human Code is a perfect companion piece to City Sight. Drop this one in a club and see the reaction. Pure bliss. Then comes dark and sleazy low tempo I am a creator pulls you into the thought process of Italo Brutalo, before Tonight finishes this perfect long player off to a joyous, satisfying conclusion.

Modula's eighth release, “Steel Nomad,” presents FISBO & Mentalitet's mastery of industrial-tinged electronica through two meticulously crafted originals. The producers construct immersive worlds where grinding basslines intersect with crystalline harmonics, creating tension between mechanical precision and organic flow. The themes evolve with architectural care, their acidic undercurrents morphing across cavernous mixes that reward both focused listening and uninhibited movement. The addition of reworks by Cosmosolar and Cali Burton introduces contrasting interpretations that complement the EP's core vision without diverting from its cohesive aesthetic. Each composition demonstrates a keen understanding of physical space in electronic music, with frequencies carefully positioned to manipulate perception and energy.

Premiered here, the Moroder-esque "Another Engine" distinguishes itself through elegant restraint, its motorik pulse recalling vintage arpeggiators while maintaining contemporary polish. The arrangement breathes deliberately, allowing rubbery low-end frequencies to converse with shimmering upper registers in a call-and-response that feels almost conversational. Its genius lies in what's withheld – the track teases climactic releases but prioritizes sustained momentum, creating addictive tension on the dance floor. This measured approach highlights the producers' confidence in their material, trusting subtle modulations and textural shifts to maintain interest.

The next project on Roam Recordings is a long distance overseas from the hands of his head honcho - Jason Peters aka JP Soul.
Roam Recordings is a label synonymous with quality. JP Soul returns to his own imprint with two new dance floor originals that form the Bacchanal EP. The title track Bacchanal is an Italo-Disco infused jam with an energetic synth groove backing a decadent vocal. The second original, Might as Well, is a low slung gritty chugger with a bit of funk and a lot of attitude.

Italian based Low Manuel turns in a solid track for JP Soul's Roam recordings. unleashed on the stems is Brooklyn born Berlin based Curses who turns the track into a dark pulsating slow (ish) mo burner with menacing Morricone style guitars, a psychoactive top end percussion and more than a sprinkle of dark disco magic. 
Jagged and unnerving, it seems like another week another cracking Curses remix.

Indonesian psych rock, post techno, electronic fusion band Sunmantra brings two stunning original dance floor rockers to Roam Recordings. The Jakarta based trio comprised of Jonathan Pardede, Bernardus Fritz, and Andreas Barlenando combine guitars, tripped out soundscapes, and electronic rhythms into the Esoteric EP. The title track brings the psychedelic energy with a warped vocal weaved through off kilter synth work while When You Bite My Lips has a slight surfer punk vibe that pulses through a heavy driving beat.

The EP is backed up by two outstanding remixes from two heavy hitting Roam alumni artists. English artist Timothy Clerkin takes on the title track and brings down the tempo while at the same time adding heavy analog vibes with a hint of 90s rave. Italian wizard Fabrizio Mammarella flips the guitar melody of the original When You Bite My Lips giving it a sweet dreamy feel reinforced by a melodic acid line.

Psychedelic, woozy, driving, punk, guitar, acid jams, and a hell of an addition to Roam Recordings.

When You Bite My Lips (Original Mix)

Mexico City based production duo Ali X x Ximena along with cohort Palomo bring two new original dark disco techno stylings for the latest offering on Roam Recordings. The title track Pastillitas has elements of Italo Disco with its fun and wonky sound while Fuel Your Passion pushes the energy into slightly darker territory adding more techno elements and general mayhem.

The EP is backed by two excellent remixes from Roam Recordings Alumnae Cabaret Nocturne and Rodion. Cabaret Nocturne remixes Pastillitas into a fantastic driving floor filler while Rodion takes Your Passion further into vibey left field territory. 

All four tracks weave together an EP full of evocative left field, Italo, techno, disco perfect for discerning dance floors.

Acelero, a First-person singular (yo) present indicative form of acelerar. Which just means to accelerate or to speed up, which is something  Roam have been doing in style this year! Jason JP's label continues to belt stompers out of the park with Roliva's "Acelero" EP, also getting a rewiring from Tblisi's other dynamo machine Pino, who present his version of track called "Neumático".  Both Roliva and Pino have taken a break from 'the Damn' and headed over to sunny San Fran to hit up the wonderful Roam Recordings who are on a fine run of form of late.  
Robo vocals, a big room breakbeat and a lot of funk make this prime time dancefloor fare and I challenge anyone not to swagger those hips when confronted with this coming from a sound system at 3am. This is a perfect combination of tough beats, robotic chants and more than brings back memories of the Plump DJs back at their Naughties best. Get your breaks on!

Acelero

PREMIERE | Roliva - Neumático (Pino Remix) [Roam Recordings] 2018

His vision had been working perfectly but was starting to display dark edges, what he saw was no longer crisp and clean but ghosting or odd visual echoes where edges should have been. This phenomenon had been documented on LCD TV screens but never in someoene's actual eyesight. Having realised his dream of becoming a true medical oddity, he could go about his day, knowing that he was the first analogue case of digital burn.
With bells which are enough to bring about the meat sweats and a bassline which muscles in beneath the hardest hitting snares this side of the Gulf War, Zakmina lands his next knock out blow, this time courtesy of Roam Recordings. Zakmina has been on a roll this year making a name for himself with EPs on Nein and Night Noise as well as establishing himself in Lithuania's dance music scene. 
Digital Burn is a corker of a track which is yet another feather in the cap of Jason JP's label which has had an explosive year. Ladies and gentlemen, shield your eyes. This is digital burn.
