Payday is a unique performance documentary set in the heart of Croydon, which delves into the finances and lives of four twenty-somethings. The documentary follows the highs and lows of Generation Y as they cope in one of the toughest economic times since the 1930s. The film focuses on the contrasting lives of our diverse cast from the moment they receive their ‘payday’ money to how they go on to spend, save or squander it.

Rob Manning is a composer and musician who has worked in the film and television industry for over 25 years.

He scored the BAFTA-nominated feature documentaries Maiden (Sony Picture Classics) and One Deadly Weekend in America (BBC). His recent works include the feature length documentary The Truth About Jussie Smollett? (Netflix), the three-part docuseries Anatomy of Lies (Peacock/NBC Universal) and the documentary feature film Missing: The Lucie Blackman Case (Netflix), which was Netflix's top-ranked show on release.

Rob's work on drama includes the multi-award winning feature film Nezouh from Syrian director Soudade Kaadan (Film4), the long running CBBC football drama Jamie Johnson, and the follow-up series Jamie Johnson FC, plus additional music on the Agatha Christie mini-series The Pale Horse, starring Sheila Atim and Rufus Sewell (BBC1), and Soulmates (Amazon), directed by William Bridges (Black Mirror, Stranger Things).

Documentary work includes Sir David Attenborough's Climate Change: The Facts (BBC) and Extinction: The Facts, the BAFTA-nominated follow-up; Louis Theroux: Miami Mega Jail (BBC); the feature length documentary Chuck Norris vs Communism (Netflix), which premiered at Sundance 2015; The Phantom (Netflix/Oxford Films); BAFTA-winning observational film The Last Chance School (Channel 4); Day Zero (KEO Films), narrated by Chiwetel Ejiofor; award-winning documentary series Love & Hate Crime (BBC); and the series i-Sniper (Netflix). He also worked on BAFTA-winning comedy series Fonejacker (Channel 4).

Rob studied music at Brunel University in London and toured with various bands before training as a television sound recordist. He moved into full-time composing in 2005, initially specialising in factual entertainment, with credits including Horizon, Dispatches, Cutting Edge, First Cut, Grand Designs, Heston's Feasts and Gordon's Great Escape.

Born and raised in London, Rob now lives in Hove with his wife, two children, two cats and a goldfish called Clem Fandango.
