Born and raised in northeastern Victoria, Wally Howlett enjoyed a typically idyllic country childhood – full of barefooted summers, pitchers of lemonade, outdoor sports and crime-fighting.
 
When he wasn’t bringing the bad guys to justice and helping little old ladies to cross the street, Wally was playing representative cricket for Victoria, rescuing kittens from the tops of tall trees and eating his vegetables, which he credits as the reason for his exceptionally hairy chest.
 
Despite his natural aptitude for sports, Wally turned his back on the fame and fortune of an illustrious international cricketing career at the age of 17, when he picked up a Takimine and strummed his first chords. Inspired to start singing and playing by his older brother, Wally’s talent soon became obvious and he quickly established himself as the much more musically gifted of the two, as well as being a more talented cricketer and better looking.
 
Wally went on to study bass guitar at university and began his career as a sessional musician for multiple bands, including Ronan Keating, Immigrant Union and The White Goods. He has supported such prominent acts as 1927, Daryl Braithwaite, Pseudo Echo, The Basics, Belinda Carlisle, Goldfields, Jungle Giant and The Aston Shuffle, and toured Europe and the United Kingdom, as well as making multiple national tours of Australia.
 
In 2012, Wally completed a highly acclaimed tour of Singapore with his band The Elliotts, and in 2013 the group participated in the Rock the Schools Tour – a seven-week tour across six states and 90 high schools, featuring some of Australia’s premier and up-and-coming musicians.
 
Wally’s natural talent and passion for music are enhanced by a genuine love of performing, and his uniquely engaging and enjoyable live shows are complemented by his laidback, friendly and approachable personality.
 
He is currently working on his debut solo EP, which has so far been described as the ‘a creative masterpiece’ and ‘the most flawless work of art to be unveiled since the Statue of David’, at least by his mother. He still fights crime on the side.
