On the following night after my appearance at Berghain's Saule Space in Berlin, I had the honour of playing a three and a half hour warm up set for one of my musical heroes. 
More details below, taken from the event description on Resident Advisor:

"On 13th October, Pickle hosts an electro special, headlined by a rare appearance from Drexciya and Dopplereffekt creator Gerald Donald, who will perform live as his legendary project Arpanet; his first show under the Arpanet moniker in London for over five years. He's joined by Intergalactic Gary, who prepares a special set of Golden Age electro and breaks from Detroit and the UK. Support comes from Freerotation resident and supreme digger Alex Downey.

Drexciya is a name imbued with deep meaning for electro and techno aficionados. Together with his friend James Stinson, Gerald Donald created Drexciya in the early 1990s, releasing a series of seminal electro records that haven't been matched since. To those who know, some of Gerald Donald's finest work was recorded under the pseudonym Arpanet - electro at its deepest and most strange, brimming with early sci-fi references and afrofuturist subtext. Although he regularly performs as Dopplereffekt on festival main stages and cavernous warehouses, Donald hasn't performed as Arpanet in London for half a decade - until now. On 13th October, Arpanet comes to The Pickle Factory for a rare headline show.

He's joined by a welcome return from Intergalactic Gary. The Hague's finest was last spotted in Bethnal Green tearing the roof off Pickle after Convextion in February. This time, IG prepares a special Electronix set that sees him digging deep into his electro, breaks and Detroit techno collection. Support comes from one the UK's finest electro DJs, Alex Downey. The Freerotation resident has been on our radar for a while - he's a simply sublime DJ of dance music in all styles, rhythms and textures. Yet it's Downey's electro collection that has particularly piqued our interest. His 'Drexciya Wavejumper set', recorded in the Stinson-esque surrounds of Bloc Festival's pool stage, is an essential retrospective on the genre. Alex is the perfect man to warm the floor for an evening of Detroit electro on 13th October. "

For the eleventh episode of There Is No Planet Earth Stories, I'm joined by guest DJ Odi representing stories from New York

Odi (Digital Konfusion, Konkrete Jungle)Bronx-born Carlos “Odi” Castillo is not only one of the most highly-respected DJs in the stateside jungle scene, but in great part responsible for its stylistic
evolution in NYC. He got his big break after high school, when promoting for the famous mid-90’s NASA rave parties grew into a steady DJing slot. Back then, the 90’s electronica wave was called
“breaks” or “techno,” until Odi and some childhood friends who shared a lifestyle, culture and musical interest began pumping out electronic records withtheir own signature twist. 

 Having grown up on 125th street in Harlem, Odi began to introduce the hip hop
elements that helped create and push the jungle sound. It has been the defining style of NYC and the east coast in general since 1997, when the Digital Konfusion crew formed their own eponymous record label and began spinning at NYC’s most dedicated
weekly jungle party: Konkrete Jungle. Being taken in
by the new born JUNGLE SKY Imprint, as well as being the jungle/DnB buyer at Satellite records gave Odi the chance to stay ahead of the curve with promos on the regs, leading to a position as an import buyer at Nemesis music Distribution.

Eventually Odi caught the ears of TC IZLAM, the international spokesman for the respected Hip Hop society Zulu Nation. He was initiated in 2003, making him the first junglist to enter the organization. Touring regularly Odi and the Digital Konfusion Crew have remained prolific ever since, Dj’ing across the nation
and producing for multiple other artists. Odi’s home base is now in the Cincinnati area where he exists under the thumb of his cats Edward and Nola.

But none as recognizable and beloved as DJ Thomas of the legendary Wicked Crew. To call him an inspiration is putting it lightly as he may have been responsible for putting out the mixtape that changed EVERYTHING for certain members of Innerflight.  We have the honor and privilege of hosting him this Saturday, June 8th at the Monkey Loft for our Drop monthly.  Joining him on the decks are Innerflight residents J-Sun and Rhines. We'll also be celebrating both of their birthday at the shindig so come on down and help them party down proper for the occasion.
