Kasra V’s unique fusion of eastern and western sounds has made him one of the most intriguing artists of the day. The Iranian has established himself with an NTS show (that is more than 100 episodes deep) and DJ sound that mixes old school UK rave with Belgian techno, acid house, trance and eastern grooves that make for spellbinding experiences. In 2018 he collaborated with Dopplerekkekt and is working on a reissue compilation series that focuses on Iranian sounds as well as original dance material.

Later this year he will play for us at Dekmantel Selectors so you can get an insight into what to expect on this week’s podcast: It’s a whirlwind hour of trance-inducing electronics. Zoned out synths are layered up over smooth rolling drums, with sci-fi references and progressive grooves lifting you ever higher. Acid flashes, retro motifs and slick mixing all make it a perfectly absorbing trip.

You can write about many that they have spent a larger part of their life by hanging out with music, but rarely will it be as true as this time. Zilvinas Roads vinyls raised a number of Kaunas clubs dancers, and the first ones have probably already forgotten what the dance floor is. It doesn’t matter whether he was still at the time as "Roadskilla" from "KUB Collective" team and at clubs earned his drum and bass guardian name, or talked to "Night Birds" via ZIP FM, or tired of selling tickets to the entrance to "Screw Abrasion", or how always in a calm face, enjoyed the adventures of his home court – Lizdas club. Roads - the second part of legendary Kaunas DJs duo who built this small town on its feet only with long-lasting enthusiasm.

For more than a decade, Roads has undoubtedly changed. His nickname has been shortened, but the musical spectrum that remains in the front of the sound system has changed even more sharply. Having earned the name of a gifted selector and a DJ on the drum and bass scene, Roads is now more difficult to define a meloman, where harmony is found in a variety of electronic music genres that have been selected for long-lasting tastes. Is there a synthesizer? Of course. Are there old rhythm machines? Yes! More than an hour of music cut straight from vinyl meat. Combining both house and lighter techno, and a bit of rhythm. The most important thing is to find a common denominator in the feelings and emotions that awaken in the 21st century. The nostalgia of the dance floors of the beginning of the 19th century and modern interpretations of that time.


Gali rašyti apie daugelį, kad jie yra praleidę didesnę savo dalį gyvenimo susikabinę parankėmis su muzika, bet retai tai bus tokia tiesa kaip šįkart. Žilvino „Roads“ Širkos plokštelių dėklas užaugino jau ne vieną Kauno klubinėtojų kartą, o pirmieji auklėtiniai jau turbūt ir spėjo pamiršti kas ta šokių aikštelė. Nesvarbu ar jis tuo metu dar buvo Roadskilla iš „KUB Collective“ ir klubuose užsitarnavo dramenbeiso sergėtojo vardą, ar šnekėjo su „Naktiniais Paukščiais“ per „ZIP FM“, ar nuo darbo pavargęs pardavinėjo bilietus prie įėjimo į „Prisukamą Abrikosą“, ar, kaip visada ramaus veido, džiaugėsi nuotykiais savo namų valdose – „Lizde“. Roads – viena antroji legendinių Kauno didžėjų dueto, kuris pastatė šitą nedidelį miestą ant kojų tik ilgalaikio entuziazmo dėka. 

Per daugiau nei dešimtmetį trukusią karjerą Roads neabejotinai keitėsi. Sutrumpėjo ir jo slapyvardis, bet muzikinis spektras, kuris lieka garso sistemos priekyje, pasikeitė dar smarkiau. Užsitarnavęs gabaus selektoriaus ir didžėjaus vardą dramenbeiso scenoje, dabar Roads – sunkiau apibrėžiamas melomanas, kur dermę randa įvairi ir ilgamečio išpuoselėto skonio atrinkta elektroninė muzika. Ar mikse yra sintezatorių? Tikrai taip. Ar mikse yra senų ritmo mašinų? Taip! Daugiau nei valanda muzikos, išskaptuota tiesiai iš vinilinės mėsos. Apjungianti ir hausą, ir lengvesnį techno, ir šiek tiek laužytos ritmikos. Svarbiausia, kad randanti bendrą vardiklį jausme ir emocijoje, kuri dvelkia XXI a. pradžios šokių aikštelių nostalgija ir moderniomis to laikmečio interpretacijomis.

We have a very special guest for this weeks podcast reigning all the way from Montreal. This Coldwave/ Leftfield queen divines her style by her feverish sequences and heavy rhythms laced with some killer vocals. 
In 2014 we have come to know her here in Europe for the 'Le Mal Nécessaire' tour which just released then. Following up by expanding her sound in the dark electronic direction with the 7 inch 'Sillage & Caprice' in 2015 and the LP 'Fugitive' in 2016. Last year her love for EBM became very clear again in her collaboration EP with Sarin: 'Collision'.
This year she is touring Europe again for her new album 'Plein Nord' starting in Berlin the 11th of May so be sure to check that out when you are in the neighbourhood.

@djsamanta / Samanta Savickytė - performers love for music blossomed in early childhood. As family members noticed the girl's newfound passion, they pushed Samanta toward her dream. As the girl grew older, the attraction to electronic music became more and more serious. Chemical Brothers, Laidback Luke, or Benny Benassi were the first inspirations to awaken her passion to interact and educate herself in a magical and mysteriously new world of sound. The 2015 Burn Residency, which she won in 2015, opened the door to Samantha's dream. Residency at Space Ibiza, crazy parties with the most famous producers, trips to the world's biggest dancefloors, and countless hours spent on perfecting playing techniques - brought Samanta to where she always wanted to be. So far, Samanta has not forgotten all the emotions she experienced during her first more serious tour in Argentina. During it, while warming up Dubfire in front of a crowd of 4,000 people, the burst of emotion erupted - fright, fear, confusion. But as the first notes started playing, those bad feelings and emotions dissipated like morning fog and everything around her became familiar and warm. Her future plans involve self-improvement, cognition, and experimentation in the field of music, finding the perfect formula to express herself in ways she hasn`t experienced before. You can hear Samanta on one of Ibiza's Sonica radio, Insomnia FM radio shows or on our #SFM062 mix. In which the performer demonstrates acquired experience and a tendency to a stricter sound and new discoveries.

Samanta - Tamsioji Pusė - Special friend mix #062

Sinchi & Friends 83 comes from Vienna based duo @HanzoandYaman. Featuring two upcoming tracks of their own and a number of unreleased tunes coming from some of their favourite producers around the world. It's a clubby kind of mixtape that you will get you dancing day or night. They told us the inspiration came from their Auntie from another County “Titaporn”, their Dj Gigs and the creative crowd that surrounds them. Plus you can get to know a bit more about them from their interview below.

ABOUT

1) Introduce yourself?

We are Hanzo & Yaman we are based in Vienna and Istanbul. Last year we released our first EP called 'Sirisins' and founded our own label Belly Dance Services for this. Besides that we released an EP on Tom Tom Disco this year, which was a great experience because we love Richard Rossa and his music. Hanzo also has had two vinyl releases on the small Viennese label fortunea records.

2) What have been your highlights from the last 12 months?

Seeing People dance and celebrate to our productions. Moreover meeting other fellow producers from highly interesting labels, kicking off promising projects and digging deeper into the fantastic world of music.

3) What do you have lined up for the coming year?

We are going to release an EP on Playground Records and on our own imprint Belly Dance Services. Also we have some remixes that will come out soon. And of course always working on new and old tracks. For next year we are planning to have more shows in different countries.
