2019 marks the 10th edition of the Bangface Weekender, which has hosted weekend-long raves in Pontins Holiday Parks throughout the UK since 2008. Bangface began as a small underground party in London in 2003. It has since hosted stages at Glastonbury, Glade, Dour Festival as well as parties in Belgium and the Netherlands. Every event delivers a singular Neo-Rave explosion of acid, jungle, rave hardcore, drum & bass, breakcore, bass, techno and electronica. Sweat Equity: Overland

Versatility is a quality that is embodied in the style of Vincenzo Pizzi, an Italian producer who works in a musical context based on the harshness and rawness of techno, but always starting from this genre as a basis for all his subsequent development, as an influence that expands with breaks, advanced electronica and electronic sounds.

Vincenzo is the head of Pyteca, a label he founded in 2016 and which houses his latest album. Archivio is a 9-track release that stands out for its diversity, as it combines fast and broken rhythms with the rhythmic immutability of techno. Each track is a completely different story from the rest, the album does not have to follow a stipulated or agreed upon line, with patterns that can give indications of what the listener is going to hear, but rather it is a multiple connection, united by forcefulness.

Release date: September 28th, 2020.

Premiere: Vincenzo Pizzi - 7DA [Pyteca]

Mise en Scène (“meez-on-sen”) is a monthly program on dublab exploring topics in philosophy, emotions and creativity plus adjacent fields such as art history, film and literary critique. Guest speakers such as scholars, writers, and artists around Los Angeles lead discussions on the nature of art, sentiments of taste, the avant-garde, and the human condition as expressed through various artistic mediums. Discussions are followed up with a musical segment featuring music curated by host, Mesmé, showcasing thoughtful underground, experimental sounds alongside her signature range of moody broken beats, electro, ambient, and techno.

Aaron Bartell is a Cultural Studies theorist, organizer, sound artist, and polymath in the fields of Science Studies, multispecies environmental justice, listening, and electronic music. While graduating with a Science degree from the University of Minnesota, his thesis culminated in a performance on listening, Noise music, and Deleuze & Guattari, called “Noise in the Age of Capitalism & Schizophrenia.”
