As @mmmmalibu, the French DJ and producer Barbara Braccini writes diaristic ambient music with a distinct sense of melancholy. As dj lostboi, she’s more playful, repurposing pop anthems into ethereal epics.

For the first time in our 25-year history, we are releasing a live solo recording by Craig Richards from the club. 

“This mix was recorded on the second of December at a Continuum party. I commenced just after five and finished at nine. The heady combination of nostalgia coupled with the past, the future and more importantly my daughter dancing next to me, resulted in a mix that I felt happy with. Historically, I have been very self-critical and have chosen not to release many mixes. Across nearly four hours this one seems to encapsulate the twenty five years of playing at fabric. In 1998 I was invited by Keith Reilly to play weekly at what was an imaginary nightclub. I had no idea that experience would continue for so many years. Playing vinyl on that sound system and mixer is highly exciting and a joy in itself. I am delighted that this has been my method of sonic communication and remain deeply grateful for my ongoing residency.” - Craig Richards

A Tune for Us

Submission to Tune Into Nature Prize 2025.
The track is based around the Nightingale song, which I recorded in Spring 2024. Upon hearing the birdsong for the first time, I thought - this really reminds me of the Jungle and Drum & Bass styles I loved as a teenager.
So - I took the recordings home and began working it into a piece of music.  Rhythmical Wood Crickets and Grasshoppers make an appearance as well as ‘cymbals’ made from Marram grass. A lot of the higher percussion is created with snapped dry twigs.

Using an Korg electribe sampler, a Korg Volca Sample and a Volca Keys. The electribe sampler is used to sequence the Volca Bass via MIDI. The Volca Sample is used for the drums and is synced via click to the electribe sampler. The electribe sample itself provides some chords sounds. All gears are connected to a Behringer DDM 4000 Mixer which ads some delay effects. And last but not least the Volca Beats runs thru a Nux Time Core Delay effect unit.

Also used a MIDI controller for part volumes of the the Korg Volca Sample and of the Korg electribe sampler.

About the mix
When I approached this mix I had in mind that I would like to include a good portion of house music into it. So the first half of the mix (except the intro which sounds like birds trapped in a ms-20) is dedicated to this kind of dusty, lo-fi house that I really love, both to listen to and play out. The second part starts off perhaps more straightforward and "clubby". It later moves on to a more muddled territory and in the end finishes on Mars.

It is a vinyl only mix (which you can hear by the flaws) done at home while staring at the wall and eating really really dark chocolate.

About the album
"The Illusion of an Alternative Choice" is handcrafted together solely by the use of a Korg MS-20 synthesizer, dedicated to the finest suburb in Stockholm called Norsborg and approved and released by the mighty Peder Mannerfelt Produktion.
