The Vietnamese artist first appeared on Belgian imprint in January of this year with a remix of Madloch & Subnode’s ‘Lion’s Mane’. Classically trained and borderless in his approach to production, the Ho Chi Minh City resident has also found a home on fryhide, Manual Music and Sound Avenue affiliate 3rd Avenue. Now embarking on one of the most creative projects of his career B.A.X. presents his ‘Serenade to Earth’ EP.

B.A.X. - Into the Aura [Sound Avenue]

Stepping up next on the prolific Last Night On Earth label is rising Mexican talent Issac. Having been supported in the past by label founder Sasha, Guy Gerber and Dixon (to name just a few), it’s no surprise to see his hypnotic dancefloor tracks being released on LNOE. 
 
Issac begins the EP with ‘Clavel’, a percussive, driving track where stripped-back drum sounds combine their elegant pulses to form a complexity of entrancing polyrhythms. Crisp, rolling 909 Toms bring a sense of melody with their powerful tones while contrasting against shimmering ride cymbals and a firm, floor-filling kick drum. Before long, the expanse of drums breaks away for a truly euphoric uplift of oscillating synths and heroic vocal pads, forming a momentous drop, somewhere between classic trance and hard-hitting techno. 
 
‘It’s An Extreme Life’ delivers more complex rhythms, where layers of recurrent guitar scratches congregate amongst twinkling bell sounds and trippy, glitched-out drum tops. The ten-minute composition builds gradually up to a minimalistic breakdown that exposes the harmonic rhythms of the track’s epicentre. 
 
Issac closes the record with ‘Rimel’, a fusion of acid-house era drum machines (like the infamous Roland TR-727 congas), blend amongst the nip-tuck-tight pulse of driving 4/4 kicks and swaying shaker loops. Fusing in anthemic synth lead lines and massive, echoing chord stabs, ‘Rimel’ closes the record with true harmonic bliss.

The latest release from Clubsonica Records welcomes Gux Jimenez back to the label for a new EP. Upon making his label debut in February of 2019 with a remix of Moveme's ‘Traumtanz', the Colombian artist then went on to release his first artist EP for Clubsonica in March. The year yielded many other successes, with outings for Balkan Connection, Droid9, Juicebox Music, Soundteller Records and UV being the most notable. Now presenting his first project of 2020, the Cartagena resident returns to Clubsonica with ‘El Inicio | El Fin' alongside remixes from Kamilo Sanclemente, Juan Pablo Torrez & Dabeat and Giovanny Aparicio.

Beginning with ‘El Inicio', Gux sets the tone of the EP with a storyboard of pulsating grooves and euphoric motifs. Anchored by a warm, redolent foundation and waves of fragmented melodies, it's an evolving atmospheric narrative which first captures your imagination. Haunting vocal choirs and trance inducing arps add perfectly to its exhilarating nature, before eventually melting down into a charming break and perfectly setting up an energetic finale. The companion piece ‘El Fin' follows suit with charged beats, rolling rhythms and joyous melodic concepts. Built around a series of tantalizing, trance inspired arps, the first act is well fashioned for peak time play. Stripping down into the main break, poignant chord changes add further fuel to its emotive core, before an unabashedly epic build sends the energy into overdrive.

The first interpretation of ‘El Fin' is provided by Kamilo Sanclemente, Juan Pablo Torrez & Dabeat. Operating from the heart of Colombia's electronic music scene, this trio of artists have collectively showcased their music on Nick Warren's Hope Recordings, Beatfreak, Parquet Recordings and UV. Beloved as their country's foremost progressive music talents, Kamilo, Juan and Dabeat now unite for a special collaborative remix of ‘El Fin'. Fluid and groovy in equal measure, its perfectly contoured foundation moves with a powerful yet buoyant drive. Fresh design qualities make for a commanding rhythm core, while pensive atmospheres add anticipatory vibes leading into the break. Processed vocals and striking tones make for a hugely impactful centrepiece, as mind bending modulation fully saturates your senses leading into a classy drop and ominous finale.

Rounding out the release and providing the second and final interpretation of ‘El Fin' is Giovanny Aparicio. Having made his Clubsonica debut in December of 2019 with a remix of Jan Dalvik's 'Mahat', the Colombian artist also released several well received collaborations with fellow countryman Kamilo Sanclemente earlier in the year. Now making a welcome return to Clubsonica, Giovanny provides a stunning rendition of ‘El Fin'. The groove gets reworked with great warmth and flow, while a complement of clattering drums, hypnotic arps and misty effects fill in the framework. Musically less pronounced, the Cali resident opts for a meditative yet powerful approach, building tension subtly across the main break though timely modulation, before smoothly segueing into a purring finale.

It caps off another impressive collection of music from Clubsonica and a welcome return to the label for one of Colombia's fastest rising stars Gux Jimenez.

Vivrant's fourth release of the year follows up Jeremy Olander's retro stomper 'Steps', and gives us a return from Khen with his groovy, melodic peak time monstrosity 'A Hero' EP. 

Since his debut on Vivrant in 2017, the Tel Aviv native has gone on to be heralded as one of the brightest shining stars on the melodic house sky. With Beatport chart-topping releases on coveted imprint in likes of John Digweed's Bedrock, Lee Burridge's TRYBESof, Sebastien Leger's Lost Miracle and UK power-house Anjunadeep, Khen's development trajectory as a producer has been nothing short of spectacular. 

'A Hero', the lead record on his sophomore project on Vivrant, his second outing on the label after fan-favorite 'Cornfields' EP from three years ago, ticks all the boxes for a future Khen classic. Intricate yet exuberant FX details, meticulously done drum work and a serene lead melody that culminates with a rambunctious drop when the suspense levels cannot possibly get any greater, are telltale signs of one of the most talented producers of his generation. 

On the flip side, we welcome 'Born Out'. Following up on where 'A Hero' left off, it continues on the EP's paved path of high-spirited soundscapes that gets our neurotransmitters firing on all cylinders. Most noteworthy, the breakdown and main drop. While still maintaining a peak level of sophistication and avoiding any resemblance of a generic cookie-cutter record, 'Born Out' takes our hand and transports us to another dimension.

Label boss Madloch returns to 3rd Avenue with a new single entitled 'Flow State'. With the majority of the Belgian artist's output being reserved for parent label Sound Avenue, it's a rare occurrence for Madloch to land on it's more progressive minded counterpart. May of 2019 did however yield the two track 'Grindstone' EP, which found the Belgian artist focusing on the groovier, more esoteric side of the genre. Now making an unexpected return Madloch presents a new single alongside remixes from Subandrio and Beije. 

Although becoming increasingly more known for his deep, dubby productions; Madloch explores the tougher, peak time inspired side of his repertoire here. Pulsating and energetic, it's a creation built around rhythmic drive and tension filled motifs. Piercing tones and percussive flurries steal the air as a warm, fluid groove undulates below. As the first act evolves a hook heavy acid line fades to prominence, before a wave of frayed percussion unleashes emotive chord changes and impassioned overlays. Brief but impactful, the main break pushes the sonic envelope with one final rush of noise to spark an exhilarating finale. 

The first interpretation of 'Flow State' is provided by Subandrio who makes his label debut. As one of his country's most highly regarded progressive music talents, the Sri Lankan artist has long been a favourite of genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Releases on Cid Inc's Replug Records, Beat Boutique, Balance Music and Sudbeat sit prominently in his discography, as he continues to sit amongst the movement's elite. Now following a remix for Chris Cargo, the Colombo resident debuts on 3rd Avenue with a powerful rendition of 'Flow State'. Always a creative remixer, Subandrio deconstructs the main elements into newfound themes for what sits as an ideal complement to the original. Atop a tough, full bodied groove comes rippling bass tones, clattering drums and buzzing synths. It's a remarkable sonic marriage and one which makes for an energetic yet tense journey, feverously peaking as sizzling acid lines burn across the break, before an exhilarating final act puts a cap on this creative gem.

Rounding out the release and providing the second and final interpretation of 'Flow State' is Beije. The Canadian duo are no strangers to the Belgian imprint having delivered their 'Novo' EP in 2019, while a remix for Jeff Eveline's 'Crashes In Love' landed in March of this year. Also finding a home on Manual Music, Sound Avenue and Where The Heart Is, Beije's fresh take on melodic house has propelled them into one of the genre's top up and coming acts. Now making a welcome return to 3rd Avenue, the Toronto residents deliver an impassioned take on 'Flow State'. Glacial lines, ethereal vocal wails and soulful strums unite for a gorgeous blend of sound and colour. Spirited instrumentation gets teased across the break, adding a nostalgic flair before effortlessly shifting energy into a glowing finale. A gorgeous remix from Beije which caps off a welcome return to 3rd Avenue for label boss Madloch.

PREMIERE: Madloch - Flow State (Subandrio Remix) [3rd Avenue]

Cid Inc's Replug Records welcomes Interaxxis back to the label for a new two-track EP. Since making their label debut in 2016, Emiliano Folgar and Martin Kazez aka Interaxxis have found a comfortable home on the Finnish imprint. The Argentinean duo have since gone on to provide an EP and single for the label, while also being primary contributors to Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, Nick Warren's Hope Recordings and Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank Records. Now following a collaborative remix with Lost and Found alum Sahar Z and their latest Sudbeat offering 'Bleakness', Interaxxis returns to Replug with the much anticipated 'Bowery'. 

Beginning with the title selection Interaxxis explores the darker realms of their highly regarded repertoire. Atop a tough, rolling foundation comes arpeggiated rhythms, buzzing stabs and striking percussion, resulting in a unique contrast of character and groove. Effervescent effects and stream-like sweeps continue to build the narrative, ultimately setting the course for an enthralling lead melody. Tense yet cosmic, its dramatic nature elevates across the main break, flowing through expressive modulation, before an exhilarating crescendo spearheads a charged finale. 

The EP's second and final selection finds Interaxxis collaborating with fellow countryman Guille Cornejo aka Antrim. Also a Replug alum, the Cordoba resident made his label debut in 2019 with the well received 'Trip To Red'. As a long-time favourite of progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, Guille also boasts an impressive resume, highlighted by releases on Sudbeat Music, Hope Recordings and his own Or Two Strangers imprint. Now coming together for their first ever joint production, Interaxxis and Antrim round the release out with 'Isolation'. Its dark beginnings prove intriguing, as punchy beats, perfectly contoured bass and striking percussion unite for a robust rhythmic core. Devilish effects further it's fiery flair, before hopeful overlays and nostalgic chord changes shift the mood into emotive territory. Building through an array of impressive artefacts, the centrepiece captivates with a rare unpredictably, before eventually accelerating to a tasteful crescendo and effects laden drop. It rounds out an impressive return to Replug for Interaxxis and Antrim, who continue to be two of the world's foremost progressive music talents.
