Nachdem er jahrelang mit einem Buddy als Duo aktiv war, ging er ab 2014 eigene Wege unter seinem jetzigen Synonym „Several Definitions“. Gleich seine ersten Releases fanden großen Anklang und wurden beispielsweise auf Stil vor Talent, Suara oder Elektisch veröffentlicht. 2015 folgte mit „Everyday“ auf Diynamic ein Track der nicht nur von Solomun rauf und runter gespielt wurde, sondern ihn international bekannt machte. Nach seinem Debütalbum 2017 erschien 2021 sein neustes Werk „Orion“ mit bahnbrechenden Tracks, die jeden Dancefloor zum Kochen bringen. Aktuell steht seine neuste EP „Northern Lights“ in den Startlöchern, die jetzt schon von vielen bekannten Szenegrößen supportet wird.

This month we start with a great Dj and producer @Steve Slight

His father and sister played several instruments and his mother had a Roland synthesizer. 
He was 7 years old when it all started for him.
He tried to play the Roland and experimented by manipulating sounds and tunes. 
Trial and error teached him how to make inspiring sounds.
Sounds for him are a very interesting things.
Sounds, not only of music, but also from daily life stuff: 
footsteps in a parking lot, wind blowing or even a ticking clock.
Later he discovered Techno and eventually started playing.
He was amazed by all the tracks that he could share with the crowd, sounds, effects, the vibe, the way people reacted to it, and most of all, what was happening inside of him.
He wanted to make this kind of music. 
He was mesmerized...
So he bought my first gear, it was a Roland MC909 and Logic audio.
He started to experiment a bit and 
learned the tricks and trade by himself and through a music forum were he  dropped my first try-outs with Ramon Tapia.
He was my very first guide.
He would invite me a few times in his studio at USA Import Antwerp and 
share with me a lot of inspiration and knowledge about music.
When it comes to music I get inspired by all kinds of events that occur in his life. 
He believes that his personal emotions are the basis for any musical creation.
He might be a dreamer, but when he feel joy or anger, or when other emotions run high, he feels creativity tickle and that are the best moments to make a powerful track.
And sometimes, like a writers' block, there comes nothing at all. 

And that is also good.

Live at Bordel Des Arts @ ELSE Berlin [Aug 2019]

In every country lockdowns are progressively lifting but it seems that we still have to stay at home a bit longer, its still uncertain for our club scene.

Times are strange. We all have to push ourselves forward digitally in order to maintain a "Social DJ Life," which reveals how our social image and music are intrinsically connected; the status of a DJ becomes instantly meaningless without actual people gathering and communing through music.

With the overflowing amount of information, it is sometimes easy to get lost in an endless consumption of content.

I am of course, also part of this social media game, and thought a bit about what I wanted to present within these messy times, I decided to compile a mix of birds singing to help relaxation.

Now that cities are running at idle speed, nature is slowly coming back through unexpected forms:
 
Butterflies can live their life without getting hit by a car, plants are retaking what is theirs and birds fly and parade in front of us, not nagging us but just beautifully expressing their freedom.

This mix idealises my dream journey in nature after lockdown, with all its phases, from apprehension to hope.

I hope you, like me, enjoy the original singers of this world.

This includes a recording I made at the botanical garden of Melbourne when I toured Australia in May 2018.

A mix of various birds talking to me

For the seventh relase of the Worst collection, our infamous A Strange Wedding takes a deep turn on the great unknown.

Keeping in mind the « ritual » and « cosmic » adjectives often associated with his music, he built a mystical artifact fallen from the skies, quite litterally indeed. « Black Magic Rituals » is a wizzard's book full of smart spells to open the space and time continuum. Whether it is made of shimmering stratospheric soundscapes or built in between constellations of the inner world, A Strange Wedding goes beyond his own forms to explore half-step industrial leftfield dub as well as mental-driven deep techno in the style of italian masters. Oscillating from far distances to intimate odes to infinity, this crystal maze of sharp music stands as a usefull toolbox for total mind liberation, and marks a step even forward into's A Strange Wedding sonic journey.

For our next edition of Distant Grooves, we invited Berlin-based House DJ & Producer Martin Roth.

The Frankfurt born, Berlin-based DJ & Producer Martin Roth first arrived in the spotlight of global underground dance music when alongside Eric Prydz and Deadmau5 he was named a Beatport Star of 2009 as a result of topping their sales chart no less than 5 times that year, achieving an incredible 16 Top 10 positions and receiving 3 nominations at the Beatport Annual Awards for his productions and remixes.
Since those heady days Martin has gone from strength to strength cementing his reputation as one of the brightest stars of the underground dance scene.
Influenced by both the classic progressive house sound of the 90’s & 00’s and the deep house & electronica avant garde of today, Martin’s tracks & remixes have been continually supported by the likes of Solomun, Sasha, John Digweed, Eric Prydz, Tiefschwarz, Pete Tong amongst many other leading names.
2012’s Beautiful Life released on Anjunadeep Records became one of the biggest deep house records of the year achieving a number 1 Beatport chart position, residing in the Top 100 for 6 months and racking up an incredible 4 million-plus views on YouTube.

This week, we welcome Saint-Étienne-based DJ and producer Jacques Satre. This talented producer is one of the driving forces in his local scene and enjoys releases on Worst Records, Metaphore Industrie, Vernacular Records and others. Running at almost 90 minutes, he starts off his extended selection with cleansing and lush sounds that build-up to rhythmic and percussive tracks that transition to electro-infused EBM, house, techno, acid, and more. We love storytelling in selections and couldn't be happier with this release. Lock in.
