We’re kicking off the new year in style with a fantastic new double header by RAXON. This Egypt-born, barcelonese powerhouse has left his scent marks all over the place in recent years. He has developed an instantly recognizable sound and that’s no small feat in these times shaped by so much formulaic dullness. “Your Fault” sees our Catalan hot shot in an exuberant disco mood. Mind bending chord progressions foiled with Raxon’s trademark vocal stutters guarantee for wonderfully twisted hands in the air moments. With “Beskar” we’re entering Star Wars nerd territory. Jedipedia says, Beskar is a uniquely resistant iron that develops a wide range of properties - and colors - in the hands of skilled metalsmiths. Alright. Musically speaking, we’re dealing with a stealthy, funky as hell trance-not-trance juggernaut. 2024 is off to a good start!

Welcome to Episode 239 on Poisonoise Music with this set coming in from Spanish based artist Emesh. 
Emesh led by Antonio Muñoz is a master of creative music production across electronic, ambient, slow trance, dub and IDM genres. He comes from the beautiful region of La Alcarria in Spain. Since 2013 on Sendero Records, he has been delivering a quite diverse range of sound to the listener, sometimes danceable, sometimes calming, more metallic, more organic, and always inspiring. Antonio is both, a musician and therapist. His musical influences owe much to the pop and electronics of the 80s when he started working as resident Dj at Deadly club in Brihuega (Guadalajara-Spain) about 9 years. From there he went to Madrid to do Dj sets with his aka Dujay in various popular nightspots of the capital like the Circulo de Bellas Artes, Mondo and Maxime between others, in addition in the early 2000s he is the founder of the underground parties Darkbeat, programming deep trance and progressive house, pioneers in the city. Working with these sounds allowed him to warm up James Holden the first time he visited Spain in 2003. Evolving his skills, he delved into music production, mastering various instruments and exploring sound therapy rooted in shamanic practices. Antonio gives regular sound therapy sessions and concerts using his Tibetan Singing Bowls, Shamanic Drum and other ancient instruments. His talent has been recognized on a global stage, with his track featured at the London Music Conference in 2020 playing a set at fabric@london. This global recognition is a testament to his skill and creativity. Currently, he's immersed in his studio, Elul, recently completing an indie electronic EP with Miss Zagato, and recent releases on Piranha Siberia Dub, Blue Lotus and Something Spæcial label. Patrice Bäumel makes his most welcome return to Kompakt’s Speicher series and it’s exactly as compelling as you expect it to be. “Luce” is a slenderly pumping piece of minimal soul featuring the otherworldly voice of Chiara Gamo. Once more, Patrice masterfully demonstrates how little elements he needs to create suspense, density and warmth on the floor. “The Cave” follows the same mantra, sucking us into a mystique stalactite cave full of echoing droplets and enchanting whispers. We follow him blindly.

During the Soviet era, art often had to align with propaganda, seemingly fostering a symbiotic relationship between the state and its people. Consequently, in the realm of “Social Realism,” most forms of artistic experimentation were strongly discouraged and even punishable. With few exceptions, 20th-century Georgian classical/chamber music remained quite conservative; however, when faced with dysfunctional cultural phenomena, there will always be gaps in societal walls through which oppressed cultures can carry their historical heritage and unique paradigms.


In 2018, Glonti started collecting LPs of Soviet-era Georgian composers at Tbilisi’s “Dry Bridge” flea market.The records mostly consisted of classical and chamber music released on Melodiya, the singular, state owned record label of the USSR. It was through this process that the idea of Recollection was born, as Glonti aimed to create an album that would utilize samples from his growing collection.


Recollection I-II will be the first release in a series of 7’’ records, followed by three more releases. The artwork by Dmytro Nikolaienko of Day Night reflects the generic qualities of Soviet-era cover art.

Long time friend of SCI+TEC Rob Hes returns to the label for the second time this year with two more devilishly stark, uncompromised and subtly psychedelic slabs of techno, sculpted for deep mix pleasure.

‘Proxima’ takes the lead with a stripped back loopy dynamic that gradually builds with trembling chime sounds rattling gently across the pneumatic drum groove. Full immersion guaranteed; there’s something deeply hypnotic about the way Rob has layered the lean elements here.

‘Noah Is Born’ hits with a little more drum density and textured weight as we’re treated to another entrancing trip. This time the shimmering sounds play much more of a lead role in the narrative as they ripple across the track from left to right like dreamy audio hallucinations.
Enchanting, icy, driving: Rob Hes’s ability to fuse the mechanical with the mystical continues to bewilder and amaze us. Rest assured he’ll be back on SCI+TEC very soon…

The exceptionally talented, Copenhagen-based Denis Horvat signs his first own release to Afterlife Recordings in ‘Modelo’, a three-track EP charged with spritely synth lines and charisma. The title track’s nine-and-a-half minute run time makes for a spellbinding journey, as the layers weave seamlessly into a vivid canvas of sound. ‘The Bender’ is more direct, lending itself to peak hours in the club with a buoyant bassline, sharp claps and melody of sirens. Ending the record is ‘Natural Causes’, an entrancing trip through dreamy arpeggios that grooves up-and-down, taking the dancers with it. These three cuts have proven vital in the sets of label owners Tale Of Us and and now see the light of day to continue the theme.
