The Quiet Shush 10 - the Drivetime Show

This full throttle 80's synth pop styled song started off as a joke. Kidding around with my fella, I got inspired by some 80's movie melodies (and obviously Pretty Woman) and recorded a rough vocal into my iPhone. Then what happened was this... I hope you like our zany silliness. It represents a lot though as far as influences and things that shaped who we are musically and as people of the 80's (although some will argue I'm a 90s kid! ?) Dedicated to all things 1980s, synthesizers and to all the Jasons roaming the earth searching for more "good beats" to program on their vintage Macintosh computers. ?

Common Prayer Studios presents the latest installment of an ongoing musical venture targeted at electronic and avant garde independent artists. A long time in the making, this is the second installment, A Very Electronik Compilation II. The original project took place in 2004. The goal is to take a demo, idea or rough sketch that you might have kicking around in the creative ether and the CPS stamp on it, creating a whole new outlook on the idea whilst still maintaining the original musical “kernel” if you will… The vision is to bring to completion abstract ideas or even take a more finished project and put a new spin on it. Collaborating with other like minds who might not normally get heard brings a sense of unity, strength and opens up a world of creative diversity. It is truly an experiment of sight and sound and we hope more of you join in on being so very strange yet feeling completely understood (for once).

Ghost Ensemble is dedicated to new musical perspectives that explore the act of listening. The ensemble’s music creates sonic spaces that shift our attention, perception, or experience of time. Robert Scott Thompson is an electroacoustic composer who has labored in relative obscurity for years--releasing a large number of works in a surprising number of genres. Two Thompson releases, "The Silent Shore" and "Frontier", gave his music wider distribution and opened his talent up to a larger group of ambient aficionados. The two discs were fabulously diverse displays of ambience, dark and light. To my mind, "The Silent Shore" is one of the finest ambient releases of the 1990s, and "Frontier" was a more than worthy follow-up. 

Thompson's music is extremely cerebral and academic, fitting into genre definitions quite tenuously. The totality of his work may not be to a particular listener’s tastes every time, but one can always be sure Thompson is treading new territories, experimenting with sound, continuously moving forward.
