Under the desk-light
the world contracts to a bowl
of amber, a warm

wash of silence. Sheets
of paper form a pale bed
on which light may sleep.

Faint notes of winter
music creep through late autumn,
soft as fallen leaves,

sullen in amber.

Frühling

Scarborough Fair is a traditional English folk song. The author is unknown. Probably the best-known version today is the adaptation by Simon & Garfunkel, which first appeared in 1966 on the album Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme.
I wrote this German text in 1994.

English translation of my text:

Look at the fields in autumn.
The grain turns yellow, ready to mow.
Reminds me of days gone by.
It was beautiful, I think about it a lot.

And the vines with grapes so heavy.
Makes the wine that we loves so much
Come winemaker, because the work is done.
Raise your glass, because the festival begins.

Forests colorful, a colorful splendor.
Red, green, yellow, autumn made it.
Winter is coming soon and covering everything.
White the landscape, the trees heavy!

My album, 'Postcard from Budapest' is a collection of stories and personal reflection drawn from episodes of Hungary's 20th century history. I am engaged in a number of diverse collaborations with other songwriters, poets and writers from around the world. One of these projects resulted in a Nashville release in January '23. .
