EMPRO

Empro grew up in Thuringia in East Germany during the late 80s. His interest on the variety of electronic music awakes in the mid-90s. Following the move to Berlin in 2000 and an intense journey through different styles of the new music movement, he quickly dipped into the scene and became an active part of it.

Until today techno music has not lost anything of its charm to him. Empro has the pleasure to play his music in clubs and on festivals all over the world. In 2012 he became a resident DJ at the world-famous club Sisyphos in Berlin.

Empros first DJ gig was in 2003 at Underground Berlin below Alexanderplatz. Numerous gigs followed and within a short time he played in Berlins most popular clubs like Panoramabar, Watergate, Tresor, Bar25, Maria, WMF and Polar TV.

You can describe Empros music as trippy, twisted, dynamic, organic, daisy and always forwards. He is well-known for his energetic enduring TechHouse Sets, alongside he invites everyone to listen, feel and enjoy the music and makes everybody dance like nobody is watching, also himself.

Taken by the desire to create something unique he founded together with Ruede Hagelstein the booking agency Mind The Crap in 2004. Afterwards he decided to set up his own and still ongoing business project „free agency“.

In 2011 he had his own Techno Club called Levee. Besides he is the initiator of varied party series in and around Berlin like HomeSweetHome (in co-op with Marcus Meinhardt) and Betriebsfeier (founded in 2003 together with Coco Berlin). Moreover he supported the Melt!Festival with organizing the Sleepless Floor for many years and was involved in festivals like SonneMondSterne, Fusion and Sonar OFF.

Apart from being a DJ all over, he released since 2006 his own productions and remixes on several labels like BAR25, Heinz Music, Upon.You Records and Freizeitglauben. Empro is currently back in his studio and you should watch out for his next releases.

PAINT CLUB - the urban art association 
...is a global institution offering an official platform for all urban artists. Talented illustrators, designers, comic and street artists get a chance to compete against each other in a international tournament.

THE STORY
The conscious and determined competition with an opponent has urged people for ages. Who ever has fought or acquired a victory turns into hero, idol, audience favourite, pioneer or captain. This urge to win and to go down in history as a glorious victor has always spawned creative and surprising peak-performances. So many times the winners of tomorrow are the most auspicious talents of today. Exactly this is the stuff dreams are made of – the stuff for the next big thing.

Even amongst illustrators, designers, comic artists and street artists, there are a plethora of undiscovered or even discovered talents, only waiting to prove and to compete their skills, their creativity and their virtuosity. Unfortunately there is no appropriate platform for them. The time has come for the PAINT CLUB.

The PAINT CLUB will offer artists and creative talents a platform and a space to interact in, just like the Battle of the Year already does for breakdancers or the DMC DJ Championship for DJs. In the next few years the PAINT CLUB as a creative competition will develop into a comparable institution for urban artists.

THE CONCEPT
The PAINT CLUB is an unique and international tournament of talented illustrators, designers, comic artists and street artists, in which creative peak-performances, competition and an open-minded audience are melting together.

Within a creative and interactive tournament, artists in teams of two are going to compete against each other in different countries, gaining for the national title. Finally the winning teams of the respective countries will run against each other to ascertain the international champion. The national contest and the international final consists of two preliminary rounds of 60 followed by one final of 90 minutes in which the teams are running for the title. Coloured paint markers and white canvases are the general basics of every tournament. The decision over victory or defeat will be made by the audience together with the judges.

The fascination of the PAINT CLUB arises through the interaction with the audience, the battle between the different teams and through the cooperation and the strategy within the singular teams. The PAINT CLUB will take place in context of significant events of major public interest and offers therefore a first-class forum for the artist and all involved partners.

Biography
At school they said Jason Wallace’s obsession with music may have a detrimental effect on his future. On the contrary… from his infatuation with music his life has been enriched and inspirational.

It all started at a very young age at home when his father would ask him to change a record once they had finished playing. Later, when he was merely 14, he would sit for hours at his father’s club watching, mesmerised by the DJ. It wasn’t long before one of them showed him the ropes and he, himself got to play while the DJ took a break. This was the most exhilarating experience of his life. A life cast to follow the love of the beat.

Jason started hosting school parties for the older kids, just so he could practice, combining old turntables with a cassette player. Desperately wanting to be near the music he got a job mastering and editing in a sound studio in Johannesburg.

1995 was the start of the dj club scene for Jason in London’s The Gardening Club, Milk and Two Sugars and Tribe. During those two years he also played for Girls FM, which was locally based pirate radio station.

On Jason`s return to South Africa he became a resident in the legendary Foundation Club in Johannesburg, at the same time he was gaining all of this valuable experience he was playing alongside international professionals such as Carl Cox, Jeff K (Masters At Work), Judge Jewels, Fat Boy Slim, Sasha and John Digweed, Sonique and Dillon & Dickens, as well as many other stars of that era.

In the late 90`s he hit a real milestone when he started hosting his own nights and taking part in the development of the deep house scene in South Africa.

Over the next 6 years he became resident at Opium, Black Sheep, Ministry of Sound, Tilt, 330, Dream Scapes, Carfax, Mother, Time, Truth…some of South Africa’s top clubs and events.

2006 made a turn again as his migration back to the northern hemisphere, this time landing in Zurich, Switzerland.

It didn’t take long before he had set up his own party label called Digital Love, doing parties in Luzern and Zurich.

As his popularity grew he was offered a resident position in the underground scene in Zurich’s infamous Hive Club, where he is well known for his deep jumping house and techno sets. Hive being voted the 2nd best club in Europe for the 2009 Club Awards for Mix Mag.

Finding his niche in the Rakete (Rocket) party label, number one in Zurich for the past 3 years, each month presenting a music melt down from all around the world, he was able to experience playing along side the best talents of their kind such as Steve Bug, Kollektive Turmstrasse, Christian Burkhardt, Loco Dice, Booka Shade, Jens Bond, Oliver Koletzki, Sebo K, Martin Landsky, Fritz Kalkbrenner.. You get the idea…


Currently he hosts the 4 Jahreszeiten ( 4 Seasons) party label in Hive as well as playing with labels such as, Mobilee Rec, Poker Flat, Soul/Berlin and Watergate/Berlin, Connoisseur Rec.

Blessed by being surrounded by creative, talented musicians and friends since living in Switzerland, his world and passion has been strongly reinforced, his crowds continue to fill up dance floors and get swept along on his sets of ever smoothly flowing styles.
