Robert Connely Farr is a songwriter from Bolton, Mississippi - hometown of musical legends Charley Patton & the Mississippi Sheiks. Farr is a friend & protege of Jimmy Duck Holmes, one of the original Bentonia bluesmen who learned directly from Henry Stuckey (who also taught Skip James). 

His 2019 “Dirty South Blues” & was released to immediate critical acclaim. Greg Vandy at KEXP named it as one of their top albums of the year & earned Farr nominations for both Songwriter of the Year & New Artist of the Year by Canada’s prestigious Maple Blues Awards. “The most intriguing part of this process for me was these sessions were modeled after our time down in Bentonia playing with Jimmy Duck Holmes & RL Boyce - you set up, start playing & the songs come. Sure there’s lots of covers & stuff but the magical part of those nights are the songs that show up that weren’t written yet. That’s what this album is, all unwritten / unrehearsed material that originated from us just sitting down to play. We are very interested in capturing the song at its point of origin.

Gratitude to Jay Bundy Johnson for  making this happen - he set up, tracked, recorded & mixed the whole thing. Jay is a respected Canadian musician & artist, was a critical part of the legendary Canadian alt country outfit The Blue Shadows & worked with the late Billy Cowsill for over a decade.”

Robert Connely Farr (2019 Maple Blues Awards nominee for Songwriter & New Artist of the Year) hails from the same small southern town of Bolton, Mississippi - that spawned legends like Charley Patton, Sam Chatmon, Bo Carter & Walter Vinson. Farr is a friend & protege of Jimmy Duck Holmes, one of the original Bentonia bluesmen who learned directly from Henry Stuckey (who also taught Skip James). 

His 2019 “Dirty South Blues” & was released to immediate critical acclaim. Greg Vandy at KEXP named it as one of their top albums of the year & earned Farr nominations for both Songwriter of the Year & New Artist of the Year by Canada’s prestigious Maple Blues Awards. After an emergency cancer diagnosis & surgery, Farr hit the ground running & 2020 saw Robert release 3 albums culminating in “Country Supper” generating sustained buzz & landed on numerous Best of 2020 lists. Farr’s music has been used on shows like Reacher, Snowpiercer & Resident Alien &  stations like Lifetime, TNT, Amazon & Nerflix . He currently resides in East Vancouver Canada.
