Speculative field studies at post industrial WWII site that explores the remains of abandoned oil tanks designed for the war effort. Encountering the dynamic interaction of plants and the surrounding environment. I have worked with and alongside plants, polluted water and soil onsite, utilising them as photographic processes and sonic artefacts. The fragility and instability of these plants using the alternative photographic Anthotype process that uses photosensitive material from plants under the influence of light. An unstable emulsion is made from crushed flower petals or any other light-sensitive plant, fruit or vegetable. Images in this series will fade and be ravaged by time and light constricted, smothered echoing the plants slow demise in toxic soils giving way to the nature of entropy.
This a exhibition 2024 at KARST contemporary art gallery UK.

This antsy re-purposing of hydrophones allows some access to the frenetic hyper-organizational instinct grid (or griddles) of the insectomaniacal realm, inasmuch as it shows up as frictional clamberings, clicks and munching and well, who knows what they were really doing: I placed the microphones and kept my distance.

"Balance" is a new five-part album by US artist Blanket Swimming, with a focus on minimalism by exploring the limitations of a single instrument. Each track was recorded live in a single take, with the only sound source being the Critter & Guitari Organelle and effects pedals.

"While this is perhaps one of my most minimalistic albums to date, each piece offers rich and calming textures that when leaned into, reveal tranquil worlds of infinite exploration and solace. As referenced in track 4, the album as a whole takes inspiration from the idea of there being five elements - air, fire, water, earth, and spirit. When all five are in balance, a sense of wholeness and oneness emerges. It is this feeling that I tried to tap into with these pieces." (Blanket Swimming)

Bio:
Nicholas Maloney is a sound artist based in Nashville, TN. They create concrète compositions from field recordings under their given name, fluid ambient music as Blanket Swimming, and are 1/2 of the experimental music duo, Picture Rather Muted. Maloney works with field recording, guitar, synthesizers, and a variety of processed instruments/sound sources to create an abstract world of immense depth and range. Maloney's work expresses stillness and activity, lightness and dark, in order to provide a rich imaginative space for listeners to explore. They also curate the label Asonu and operate their self-publishing banner, Open Colour Imprint.

Rivers and seas capture voices, archive and transmit them. Imaginable watery void – blank field of humid nothing – is getting more and more potent, filled with the end of the world for many. Water is one of basic routs of today (and past) migrations of people. The way is not secure, it never was, not for human beings. What do we hear, when we listen closely to the water? Anywhere (walls, fences, barbed wires, razor wires don't function with water, transmission goes up, down, around and through).
