Sprawl

Mas is the encounter between visual artist Samantha Corti and composer Théo Fernandez. 

Together, they weave fragments of images and sounds — collected across different eras and recording formats — into a single, living organism. Nothing is ever used in its pure form: each element bears the marks of its own alteration, distortion, and tearing — an attempt to sketch the fever dream of an insomniac.

To give shape to these nocturnal visions, the duo repurposes electronic devices — reel-to-reel recorders, microphones, printers, or cathode-ray televisions — turning them into narrative instruments.

Their work delves into the dialogue between image and sound, guided by a thread of melting memories and sticky souvenirs. Within dystopian, cinematic worlds, they summon fictional characters who lose — or recover — their memory.

electroacoustic composer + revox performer

Théo Fernandez is a French composer and performer. Originally from Toulouse, now based in Paris. He moves through the territories of electroacoustic music. From this practice, he retains a plastic approach to the sound object: the careful, alert collection of sounds that ripen slowly; and find their consequences in the dramaturgy that link them to others. He works mainly with reel-to-reel tape recorders. Tape does not restore but re-deform again. An oxidisable nature that revisits what has been lost with digital clarity; in loops, where each passage carries a certain nostalgia for the future; where music belongs to a moment that may never have truly existed.

Robin Judge is an electronic artist. She carefully constructs scenarios that explore processes within the digital realm. Focusing on the subtle relationships between rhythm and texture, she shapes auditory space with layered compositions to create a tapestry of sound.

Robin Judge has released on such labels as Onitor, Mille Plateaux, and Traum to name a few.

Robin Judge has performed live at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival and Mutek Festival in Montreal opening for Monolake, Akufen, Ricardo Villalobos and Richie Hawtin. She has performed across North America and has toured throughout Europe on multiple occasions. Her live shows exhibit the many facets of her musical concepts.
