Solid Steel in association with Serato (29th April)Chris Menist is our guest in Hour 2, a record collector who has always dug deeper than most. Having lived in Thailand, Yemen and Pakistan, he has been constantly searching for music from far flung corners of the world. With Maft Sai, he also runs The Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band, as well as releasing compilations on Soundway and Finders Keepers. "As well as featuring some recent purchases and trades from Indonesia, Thailand, Reunion/Mauritius, and East Africa, it's another small chapter of my musical fascination with the sounds and cultures from across the Indian Ocean and how they relate and interconnect. That said, these are also tracks I'd happily drop in a club, and proceedings are rounded off by some Swedish minimal-wave, so the parameters aren't exactly strict! Tunes first, research second..."
