Some of my favorite tracks by one of the greatest arrangers of electronic music ever, Roboctopus.  This man throws around more talent, melody and diverse sound than just about anyone alive... almost exclusively with Game Boys.

Chillin' with Chip

This track is like 2 1/2 years old. It was supposed to be on "The Landscape Has Been Erased" but I was never quite satisfied with it. I always liked the melodies though, so I decided to bring it up to modern Roboctopus programming standards. I'm super happy with the results!

Now I'm thinking about releasing a little EP of re-worked older tracks...

Exploring the sound realm of electronic circuitry in laptops, iOS devices, game consoles, cellphones and a wealth of other electronic devices. Recorded in 24bit/48khz with a professional Sound Devices 702 and special stereo microphones (modified JrF Coil Pick-Ups) capturing tiny electronic particles many beyond the human auditory range. The result is a remarkably collection of circuit boards, startup and shutdown sequences, robotics, bleeps, drones, abstract backdrops and moving textures. 

Each samples have undergone a volume gain and spectral audio correction where necessary but are otherwise left un-fx'ed to preserve the audio source as original as possible. The samples are rendered at a normalizing level -2dB headroom with no further processing, keeping the full dynamic range intact. All samples are then carefully tagged with appropriate iXML and BEXT metadata for use with Soundminer and Basehead.

I played this at MAGFest and figured I'd upload it.  This is still a demo. (need to tweak some things and figure out how to end it, haha.)  It was fun to play live though!

For our eighteenth release we present the new banger by Ducked Ape, whom are adhering to an insane release schedule and have been making big waves. With a recent release on Armada Music and their Una Mattina edit crossing the 110.000 plays in a week, they intend on stepping it up another notch with their new vocal tune in collaboration with songwriter Justin Mercelina.

In The Night
Ducked Ape come through with a subliminal journey of a track… fast paced and drum and bass influenced with a vocal hook so catchy you’ll find yourself humming it for the next day. Trademarked by Ducked Ape signature melodies and baselines, it’s a mesh between Parachute Youth and Cinnamon Chasers. Bound to become an anthem for pre-parties or high speed rides, as we all know the feeling it touches on - in the night we come alive, and every morning is a fight.

Shimmer
As the release was originally intended as an instrumental track under the name Shimmer, we just couldn’t resist adding that to the pack. A different experience, perhaps more suited for the clubs.
