Birmingham-based Rebecca is a fully independent artist creating original blues/rock music with her co-songwriter Steve Birkett and releasing it on her own label Mad Hat Records.  She usually plays live within a 5-piece band, performing tracks mainly from her studio albums Believe (2016), More Sinner Than Saint (2019) and The Space Between Us (2022) along with new material and one or two classic covers.

Wolverhampton-born Rebecca’s current music began when she linked up with co-songwriter Steve to write blues-infused material to create their excellent first album, Back To The Start (2013) followed by Believe and the live album BeLive (2017).  Rebecca was voted Female Vocalist and Emerging Artist of the Year at the British Blues Awards 2016 and Female Blues Vocalist of the Year in the FORM UK Blues Awards 2018.

More Sinner Than Saint (2019) contains material honed with advice from producer Chris Kimsey, famous for working with the Rolling Stones and Peter Frampton, and the tracks were mixed by California-based producer Bill Drescher and Thunder’s bassist Chris Childs.  The album received considerable critical acclaim and the second single – Hurts – was playlisted by Planet Rock Radio UK.

In April 2021 Rebecca released Stripped Back, an album created under lockdown conditions, and containing ten tracks from Believe and More Sinner Than Saint each reimagined and re-presented in a laid-back style, together with two previously unreleased tracks.

In November 2022, Rebecca released The Space Between Us, ten new songs and one cover in a collection of raw, passionate, multi-hued tracks with a very live feel that allows Rebecca to deliver her at times very personal lyrics with vocal conviction.  The album was produced by Steve Birkett and mixed and mastered by Gavin Monaghan.

Steve and Rebecca are working on new material for release later this year.

Artist Bio
After playing guitar in the pit for musicals and theatre shows, I started gigging locally to pay the way. I made backing tracks on an old Fostex x26 that used to slow down as it heated up and change key throughout the gig. As time progressed and mini discs led to DAT led to mp3 I ended up playing in bands in Spain and the Middle East, notably doing the top class hotels such as Intercon in Muscat and Crown plaze in Dubai. Returning to the uk after a long stint abroad playing as a gigging musician I now teach and record at home whilst gigging on weekends and for big events .I have played many styles in my time and so my playing is a mixture of influences but blues and Floyd remain the key ones with perhaps a right hand influenced by Knopfler

I have worked all over the meditaranean and Middle East as well as UK for many a year as a gigging guitarist covering all manner of genres from rock/country/blues/jazz/chill out/ and even cuban. Now I work as a teacher ina secondary school and write at home for fun. I gig still with a duo called sax n axe and other cover bands but I enjoy using my knowledge of styles and genres to create my own songs.Hope you enjoy

 Lanarkshire born singer-songwriter Ryan Kershaw delivers beautifully emotive reflections on life. Deftly navigating the alt-folk/acoustic tradition, Ryan weaves touching and thought-provoking vocals into poignant, often sublime, tracks.         

The struggle of life gives birth to the thoughts and philosophies touched on in Ryan’s lyrics. He describes his writing process as almost unexplainable; “trance-like”. Creating music is as much a necessity as breathing or eating; songwriting as much a form of therapy as an artistic process. Echoes of Tom McRae and Damien Rice are in evidence but dig a little deeper and find the influence of The Doors, Pink Floyd and The Beatles.
