It was night time and the full-ish moon was smiling down as the river flowed and all the creatures made their distinct sounds. A fire warmed our bodies as music feed our souls. 

Inspired by the human experience that unfolded in a beautiful container surrounded by Mother Nature. This set was a celebration of the journey’s ending … or was it the just beginning ;) I was in a complete flow state, I knew two tracks I wanted to start with and two towards the end. Tunes were pulled from many different pockets of my collection.

On the property was an amazing labyrinth. Our journey and realizations through it weaved their way into this set. I later googled life and labyrinth and found this:  

“Our life path can be viewed as a labyrinth guiding us to deeper meaning and fulfillment. Walking a labyrinth takes us through numerous twists and turns that symbolize the ebb and flow of life. Like the design of a labyrinth, what looks like an end point in life can also be a beginning point.” (link below)

I’m now obsessed with labyrinths!!! Thus the title of this release.

The thing I love most about Burning Man is no matter how much you think you've prepared, you still never really know what to expect. The uncertainty, the excitement, the apprehension, and sometimes even the fear of what's just around the corner is what keeps so many of us coming back every year with a renewed childlike wonder - a feeling that seems to slip away as we get older. Sometimes everything goes right, and sometimes things just go wrong. 2014 was a mixed bag for me with some high highs (spending time with amazing people, getting to DJ in the best place in the world, seeing some incredible forms of expression) and low lows (namely falling hard on my back off of a see-saw putting me in constant pain for the entire week - it even hurt to laugh!)...but at the end of the day, I got exactly what I bargained for and couldn't ask for anything more: I experienced the unexpected.

In contrast to the previous two years on the bus, this year I played first on Friday night and took a little sonic stroll around different sounds and moods to open the night before Bedouin beautifully escalated the night into proper party mode...Pardon any sloppy mixing, we can just blame that on my aching back :)

Thanks to everyone who was there early in the night to catch my set, and thanks to everyone listening at home, Robot Heart, and Dr Burridge for the continued support over the years...Having the opportunity to do what I do is such a great gift from all of you.

Six years since the last chapter of everyone's favorite Scumfrog mix series, it is finally time to introduce volume 6 of Friends With Boats! The series that was inspired by a sailing trip in 2007, and slowly navigated the ever changing sounds of Electronic sunsets, continues with a carefully selected bag of tunes that were released at any point during the past 6 years, and deemed worthy for this mix. Unsere Nr. 134 kommt heute von einem amerikanischen Künstler, der mich seit 3 Jahren ununterbrochen musikalisch begleitet. Ich erinnere mich noch sehr gut an seine damalige Bunring Man Aufnahme… Sie haute mich schlichtweg um. Seitdem komme ich nicht mehr um Ihn herum. 

Die Rede ist von „Atish“, einem ehrlichen und unkomplizierten Künstler, der keinen geradlinigen Weg ging. Anfangs noch Programmierer für Facebook, entschied er sich vor knapp 10 Jahren selber Musik zu mixen, wie seine unzähligen Mixe belegen. Anders als viele andere Künstler, die gerne ihre so genannte ‚peinliche‘ Anfangszeit verheimlichen möchten, sind bei Ihm tatsächlich noch alle Mixe zum Anhören verfügbar. Dass er damals wie heute seinem Sound gleich geblieben ist, spricht umso mehr für diesen sympathischen Menschen. 

Sein Coming Out hatte er 2012, als er auf dem Robot Heart art-car spielte. Seitdem ging es steil bergauf. Tokio, New York, Istanbul, Berlin,…um nur einige Stationen seines vollgepackten Kalenders zu nennen.

Aber auch in seiner Wahlstadt San Francisco treibt er weiterhin sein Unwesen. Und wie!!! Neben dem etwas anderen Clubformat mit dem Namen ‚Late night tonight!‘, einer Mischung aus Talk-Show und Club Party, gründete er auch das Label ‚Manjumasi‘. 
Und wäre dies nicht schon genug, feilt er in jeder freien Minute an kommenden Releases und Remixen. Tendenz steigend. Sowohl in Qualität, als auch in Quantität. Wir sind gespannt.

Das von Ihm eingespielte Set ist eine herrlich ‚afterhoureske‘ Reise ins Dickicht der melodischen und verträumten elektronischen Musik. Das sich Atish für dieses Set etwas ganz besonderes einfallen lassen hat ist unüberhörbar. Ich war beim ersten Hören des Sets tatsächlich komplett geflasht, hatte ich doch etwas anderes erwartet. Aber diese Überraschungsmomente, die unsere Reihe und die jeweiligen musikalischen Interpretationen immer wieder mit sich bringen, hauen mich, nein uns, immer wieder um. Darauf darf man auch ein wenig Stolz sein. Vor allem wenn man am Ende ein ganz außergewöhnliches Set erhält. So auch hier. Schnallt euch an… Ich kann mich nur wiederholen, aber es erwartet euch eine Reise durch verspielte, sehr deepe und hypnothische Felder, wie gemacht für eine tanzbare Afterhour sind. Das gabs bei uns schon lange nicht mehr….seid gespannt.

A Monday like no other... After 9 hours wait to enter, we cruised the playa for the first time, we joined our Gardens of Babylon family for their welcoming party in Bang Bang, with so many familiar faces and friends, we directly felt at home! 
We then hoped on Maxa Camp's magical Deer art car, and drove toward Bang Bang, all of a sudden the party became a moving party, so many colourful bikes were following, we were completely mesmerized, it was the first time we played for a moving dancefloor! Until we reached the playa and then the crowd just didn't stop getting more colourful, more lights, more vibe. It literally was out of this world. 
What a welcome to Burning Man <3 !
