I had the chance to dj on top of the Bleachers as Embrace Burned at Sunrise on the Friday of Burning Man 2014.  I tried to tell a little emotional story of the phases of a relationship (joy, longing, destruction, sadness, joy again, etc etc.). It's also just pretty music that's good for a sunrise, hopefully. 

I snagged some of these tracks from good friends.. Danthrax and Zwicker (Dopeshoes) in particular. Fist bump.  Katie Bowman has been my musical soulmate for the past 5 years, among many other things. Thanks Bow.

Mikaela is a DJ and producer with a determined and ambitious vision for her imprint and concept imprint, Love the Underground Records.

Surrounding herself with music from an early age, Mikaela has since found her home in Ibiza. And, having enjoyed several seasons living on the island, observing the intricacies and dynamics of every last facet of the industry.

In 2015 Mikaela established Love The Underground Records, as a means of expressing her passion and love for dark and heavy tech-house through techno, whilst also using this as a platform to support the next generation of upcoming underground talent. With a strict no vocals policy, the label endeavours to showcase the best Of Techno, Tech-House, Deep-House and Minimal Music.

It’s fair to say that both Love The Underground Records and Mikaela not only represent an appreciation for the best of underground music, but they also aspire to cultivating a utopian environment through which the masses can express themselves to the underground sound. So, with that, Mikaela is now exclusively in the mix, for you to get a taste of Love the Underground and those late night Ibiza sessions we all know so well.

"We found the dimmed Heart sitting atop the bus in the middle of post-Burn chaos, as if sleeping, separated from it’s darkened Robot counterpart. The bus had broken down after the Burn and was cemented amid the luminous gridlock, being brought back to life by an array of oil-covered, faithful hands. Maybe it was just my cosmic week getting the best of me, but at that moment the separation between the Robot and Heart seemed symbiotic to the turbulent energy of the Playa, which was pulsing with infinite expressiveness. Eventually the roar of the engine broke into the clamour, the Heart lit up once again and, as if in reaction, the Robot began to glow. They moved gently towards each other and then out to the edge of the playa. The Yin and the Yang were united again, on the edge of the universe.

That’s how I remember it, anyway.

Camea Robot Heart Burning Man 2015

It all began right there on the playa, six years ago under the rays of the morning sun, immersed in the magic of the beautiful Robot Heart sound stage.  A community so powerful and strong, it has become the biggest inspiration for my own musical journey. The people I met, the music I heard and the feelings I had that first night have left a lasting impression and inspired me to learn a new skill and start playing and producing music.

In the modern world, traveling around the world, making countless acquaintances we get lost in this endless whirlpool of activity. We start seeking a sense of belonging, experiences that unite us and inspire to create. This is what Robot Heart does for many of us, whether you come here to dance, play or connect. 

My own experience led me to start experimenting with sound and styles, curating artists that would join us on the playa for a week and become family for life.  We grew into a amazing community, which we call White Ocean, united by our love and passion for creativity and exploration. There is nothing more inspiring for me at the moment than seeing how music can improve our lives and open our minds to new adventures and experiences. It did it for me......

It has been the greatest honor to come back to where it all started and play my set for Robot Heart's 10 year anniversary on the playa. I wish your journey to continue for my years to come:)

Timujin - Robot Heart 10 Year Anniversary - Burning Man 2017

Two mixes recorded on the Robot Heart sound system at the Burning Man festival. Thursday night 2am is a prime time collage of tracks tailor made for the desert. The last track in this mix “Love Is In The Air” was not actually a part of this live set, but edited onto the mix by popular demand. The sunrise set is from after the burn on Sunday morning. Yes, that one ALSO ends with Love Is In The Air, simply because that is when it was actually played. Excuse the redundancy. -The Scumfrog
