The hypnotic momentum of the night passes to the hands of DJ Three as light begins to fill sky and the new day creeps ever closer.  For forty breathless minutes we wait… until at last the sun breaks over the horizon, and a collage of verbal musings, psychedelia and ornate music fills the air.  Toying with echoes and teasing with nuance, shutters fluttering to capture the fleeting moment…a moment not soon forgotten for those who were lucky enough to be there, at sunrise on Sunday, Black Rock City, Burning Man, 2014.   And then, just as easily as we are led into that place, a whole movement of sound and energy returns the dance floor.

Following our good friend Lee Burridge past the sunset and well into the day as sandstorms whipped past us in the background we stood amongst friends and strangers (who are just friends we’ve yet to meet) and we danced and celebrated together, participating in the beauty of a shared moment that can only be held in our memories as a mere shadow of what we truly experienced… What an honor to be part of it all. A big thank you to everyone who helped make that moment happen.

This was my first ever Burning Man experience. I am in fact still trying to find the right words to describe my experience there. 
Moreover the Robot Heart performance. But sometimes music really shouldn't be described with words. At least in my position being an artist & composer. 
So thank you that this magical journey of mine was recorded!
It was quite something to be on top of that bus as the burners rode in on their bikes. And when the bus took off watching everyone jump right back on their bikes and follow the bus in what I can only call a ‘mass exodus’ onto the playa. I decided to dig deep into my old productions and new and some of my favourite journey tracks for this mix.
Thank you, big hug and love to all who joined in and danced along, and to Camp David, Robot Heart & Jonny for getting me involved.
I hope to be a part of this again. Either way, I’ll See you again next year for sure!

Job Jobse - Robot Heart - Burning Man 2014

It's Tuesday night, we enter Burning Man a day late due to the rain. It's my first burn, and Sarah my girlfriend, it's her third. With little time to settle at our camp, we can't set up our newly purchased bikes. So we venture out in search of Robot Heart by foot. Arriving onto the playa for the first time at night is incredibly intense, the place is so vast. The lights, sounds and atmosphere is other worldly. It's distracting, let alone the fact we need to somehow find Robot Heart by foot in amongst all of this brilliant and mesmerising noise. We start walking in any direction, Sarah being an experienced burner knew full well the bus could be out deep in the desert far away. We ask people if they have seen it. Mixed answers get us nowhere. Scanning the horizon for anything that resembles a heart. So many things look similar. Somehow my eyesight pays off and the saving grace was the giant Robot held up high. Finally arriving and panic over we run straight into Phillipp from M.A.N.D.Y. With some time to spare before I play he asks us if we want to go for a quick cruise around to explore. With the obvious lack of our bikes he purposefully and very quickly introduces us to Benjamin and the crew from Robot Heart, who throw us both on the bus immediately. To our surprise the bus suddenly starts driving away. Everyone follows. An amazing experience as we watch thousands of bikes, lights and art cars slowly following the bus. It was like the bus was leaking - spewing out these bikes, lights and art cars all over the desert floor, leaving this incredible trail behind itself.
A good 30 minutes pass, the bus and gathered crowd is settled and in its final place for the night. I begin to play - my first gig at Burning Man, my first time on Robot Heart, all on my first night at BM in this crazy desert. All brilliantly overwhelming. Even after everything though, I am completely relaxed. It's a setting and experience I'll never forget. Playing and looking out over everything down below. You could take a picture of what you see in front of you and look at all of the different things for hours. But this was real life and in motion, always changing, so much to take in. By far one of the most enjoyable moments of my life. Which was topped only by mine and Sarah's fun wedding ceremony we had later that week in front of the Temple. The picture is our first kiss as newly weds!

Thank you Robot Heart and Burning Man! I definitely hope I can return to the Bus and the playa every year now!

two and half of hours of our favorite tunes from today all the way back to when our parents were frolicking around open fields and calling themselves hippies. 

we were going to keep this as a keepsake for all our friends we met on along the way on our incredible journey at Burning Man ... got a lot of feedback requesting we post it...so here it is!--- wake up to it, sit outside to it, cook dinner with it, work to it, talk on the phone with it, walk around with it, do some______ with it, stand on your head with it, do yoga with it, read poems with it, eat comfort food with it, reminisce with it, have some drinks with it, have a laugh with it, have some nostalgia with it, have a think with it, sleep with it, go up an elevator with it, swim to it, make love to it, make love with it, .... this collection of music is all for one and one for all.

Taking a turn away from the driving sounds of November, December explores a more sensitive soundscape...my favorite and most comfortable style of music to play. I assembled this mix thinking about these next few winter months where lots of us friends and family gather and spend more time inside at home. the last time i recorded a drum & bass set it was on a cassette tape over 10 years ago. in 2012 i was finally able to return to my original love, dive into my old vinyl, and play some jungle: b2b with eats everything at bestival, b2b with totally enormous extinct dinosaurs at secret garden party, and as a guest of bachelors of science at their monthly at monarch in sf. for those of you who were not able to catch one of these rare pilgrimages back to my roots, i have recorded a special set just for you featuring a handful of my all time favorite records. happy new year and i hope you enjoy!
