Opening a day full of incredible music on the stage from Nick Warren, Amonita, Paris and some of Sydney's best artists from Frida, Samantha Loveridge, Andy Ef, Zankee Gulati and many more; and the first set the morning after a blistering 5 hour masterclass from Patrice Baumel. 

I took the opportunity to make the most of the 11am slot time and play some really beautiful up-beat melodic house, groovy deep house and all-around happy music for the opening slot of the day. 

Definitely the most fun I've had playing behind the decks in a long time!

Get Down Edits are Darren "Daz" Dalton & Martin Roche, If you count up the years that Daz and Martin have been playing individually and together then youve got nearly half a century of Dj experience. Added to that the success of their own partnership and label with the release of Get Down Edits Vols 1-4 and youve got a seriously solid pair of DJ`s and edit masters. Still living in their home city of Waterford in Southern Ireland, the duo have recently been playing host to some of their favourite Djs and producers at their new Monthly residency in The Terrace @ Shortts Bar Waterford. Dicky Trisco and LTJ Experience have played with Get Down Edits in Irelands oldest city so far in 2013 with some very special guests lined up for the summer months including Charles Webster & The Revenge. Starting off from a House & Deep House background in mid 90s to early 00s, the boys shared the decks early on in their mixing career with many national and international acts like Kenny Dope (M.A.W), Dj Deep (Paris), Dj Harri (subclub), Yousef, Ben Watt, Fish Go Deep, Charles Webster, Frank Roger & Atjazz.A residency in Waterford club Shakedown in 2006 allowed them to explore their style and flair for mixing music; they kept their house music mixing style while playing 80s funk, soul, disco and classic electronic music. Their own Get Down residency started in 2008 and allowed the duo to further refine their signature sound to the deep and soulful disco sound it is today. Get Down nights also first introduced many International Producers and djs - Craig Smith, The Revenge, Greg Wilson and Chez Damier to Waterford ears and dance floors. Daz and Martin continue to stay very close to fresh new sounds and talents in their efforts to share the best sounds and parties in their home city.

Beyond the incredible venue, production, and beautiful collection of humans, there were three things that made set this extra special for me: opening the room to an empty dance floor, having the DJ booth in the center of the room, and playing the most original music I’ve played in a set. 

I rarely get to build a room from zero anymore, so I took great pleasure in playing records early on that are subtler, slowly building tension as people trickled into the venue. Having the booth in the center made it much easier for me to sense what the people sonically needed as the night progressed - we all were locked in for the last hour. 

I also blended the ambient room sounds with the mixer output capture the spirit of the night. You’ll hear the excitement of the crowd match the energy crescendo. When I listen to the set, it almost feels like I’m transported back to the party. 

It a very special gig, and I’m grateful to Robot Heart for having me play.

Atish - Robot Heart Residency - Oakland 2023

During a trip to defected in malta the first party was held at a huge outdoor venue called UNO. The main arena wasnt really my thing, so i decided to take a wander around this vast club, i stumbled upon a little stage with the words "staytrue" written in neon behind the dj booth. the music pumping out was incredible! It had harmony, melody, it’s mid tempo, the production stunning, even some oldschool licks.. I recognised the logo straight away but not really paid it much attention, so I promised myself to check it out when home. This mix is the result of that experience. At a time when mediocrity and artifice dilute and diminish dance music, Kid Fonque has formulated the antidote. 
Enter ‘Stay True Sounds’, a independent record label that places good taste over hits and longevity over trends. The label’s creative agenda is simple: to unearth, nurture and present real, evocative music. 
Stay True Sounds became a Defected sub-label in January 2023.. this mix highlights that experience in Malta. The mix is Recorded through a condesa carmen mixer, which enhances the already great quality of these productions. Enjoy!

I had a magic time at Oakland for the  Robot Heart Residency, the time have spent there just gave me so much good energy and I have met many interesting people along the way. 
My set was a mystic moment during those days, it seemed like time had stopped during those hours during before and after my set.

“4 years ago I went to Mayan Warrior, Tulum to dance & explore. I remember the excitement on the dance floor, the respect for the music, the art, the lights & the attention to every little details. I was fully inspired.

This year I wanted to do the same. I’d just finished two long weeks of touring and wanted to have a good dance with friends.
Everything fell into place when the Mayan crew reached out and told me there was an open slot for me to play. I so excited and jumped right in. It's the kind of event where you don't need to think about what to play, you just feel it.

I didn't plan on releasing the set but, as we celebrate life in the dance floor like we always do, it felt right to share it.”

My affection for Robot Heart is well-known, tracing back to my first encounter with it in the desert sands in 2008. Over the years, my musical journey has been deeply influenced and shaped by its presence. 

Having the opportunity to partake in Robot Heart's Residency in Oakland, California, was a true delight. 

The four-hour set I performed stands out as one of my favorites in recent memory, largely due to the unparalleled connection forged with the audience. 

Beginning the night and carrying through to the peak hours before passing the decks to Sante Vie, the energy was phenomenal to say the least. 

I hope that you find as much joy and resonance in this performance as I did that night

DAVÌ - Robot Heart Residency - Oakland 2023

This was my second time playing at Robot Heart and it was just such an incredible experience, from the first second after pressing play, the energy in that audio system, the art of the bus, the love of the people who bring it to the playa and the energy of the crowd of burners who stayed til the end through the rain... all of it created this explosion in my heart, that propelled me into this dual plane, at once being very present in the moment, and floating above the ether...

This year's burn had a special feeling from the start, the love was back, and after the rain the community felt the most connected I had ever seen. The man burn itself was poetically gorgeous, made all the more sublime by my friend John Dill's luscious set, taking the torch from him had an emotional resonance for me too.

The set has three acts. I began playing when the bus was parked by the man burning, then it set on its journey into deep playa. It was so exhilarating to play while the bus was moving, watching all the bicycles following, feeling that beautiful breeze on my face! The last is once we arrived to park in deep playa for the night… I was flowing off the energy of each of these phases and also fulfilled a long time dream to pay homage to my heroes Prince and Bowie in deep playa!
