The LIVE recording of Hoj at the listed Freaky Tikki Boat Party at the 2010 Winter Music Conference. Recorded on March 26, 2010, this was the sunrise set, starting out in the darkness of early morning and grooving through until the sun came up. Sultry beats to get people moving and to welcome a beautiful day as the boat circled South Beach.

My 2009 Saturday night post-Burn set at the HookahDome reprised and boiled down (I think the whole set was like 4 hours) for your listening pleasure. A blend of beats from around the Mediterranean and east. The HookahDome is a Burning Man theme camp known for it's day time inside hospitality with lots of rugs, cushions, hookahs, Turkish delight, and belly dancers and at night it has top global bass and ethno-tek DJs from around the world. It also has what is arguably one of the best sounding sound systems on the playa (even when compared to Funktion One systems). The sunrise sets at the Nutz camp have become something of an institution during my annual pilgrimages to Burning Man. 

As per usual they come after a number of days burnt out in the desert on sleepless nights, untold stimulants and with a mind blown from excess stimulation and inspired by being surrounded by hundreds of beautiful, passionate people. 

This year's set followed on from a fire &amp; brimstone throwdown at Opulent Temple and I loved every single minute of it, especially when the 40ft UFO-platform appeared to 'shade' the dancefloor from the heat of the morning, and when during my fifth Bloody Mary of the morning, the BBQ arrived to ply us all with a seemingly endless supply of breakfast goodies.

It has been 10 years since Fort Knox Five released their first singles, and this past decade has proven very fruitful for the funky foursome.  2003 saw the launch of both Fort Knox Five and their seminal Fort Knox Recordings imprint.  To celebrate this milestone, Fort Knox Five have selected 15 of their favorite original tracks from the entire decade.

Fort Knox Five has had the pleasure of collaborating with some incredible vocalists who are well represented on this collection.  Mustafa Akbar of Thunderball and Nappy Riddem is featured on several tracks, as are Rootz and Zeebo of See-I and Thievery Corporation.   The Godfather of Electro Funk himself, Afrika Bambaataa is featured on two tracks.  Asheru, best known for his Boondocks theme song is on the opening track.  Thievery Corporation’s dancehall voice, Sleepy Wonder as well as DC’s own DIY legend Ian Svenonius are both featured.  The list continues with former US3 front-man and prolific artist Akil Dasan and the Zulu Nation’s King Kamonzi.  Rounding out the list of featured vocalists is Beta-G, on loan from the US Department of Bhangra.

This body of music not only spans 10 years of Fort Knox Five in the studio, but also live performances and dj appearances worldwide.  This music has been performed and played for countless thousands of fans around the globe.  These tunes have also been heard in such great movies as The Cove (2010 Academy Award Winner), Stand Up Guys and You Again as well as TV shows like The Fringe.  No stranger to the wide world of video games, Fort Knox Five songs have appeared on Need For Speed: Shift, Skate It, NBA Live 10, Test Drive Unlimited 2, Dirt 3, Sims and others.  

10 Years of Fort Knox Five shows the music diversity of the group with one foot firmly planted in funk.  Reggae and dub can be heard clearly alongside hip-hop.  The group is not afraid to break boundaries and delve into rock, swing and even bhangra in their musical explorations.   This collection of music represents the last decade of Fort Knox Five’s musical growth and development.
