Burning Man 2013 - Deep Tunes For Deep Playa - PreBurn

Hearing and seeing DJ Phono play is something else. It’s makes for a totally unexpected experience for most people hearing Phono for the first time. Especially when they realize he’s part of the Diynamic label collective. Not that there’s something wrong with the label, but DJ Phono can easily be categorized as the maverick of the label’s artists. Steering away from the predictable, mixing classics with strange edits of newer tracks (yes, that's Nicki Minaj you're hearing in the podcast) and never failing to surprise. The ones of you that know SEKOIA know that that’s exactly what we look for when looking for Podcast-artists: Skill, musicality and the ability to surprise. 

Our expectations for this Podcast were high to say the least. They’ve been met 100%. We’re taking our hats off for mister Phono. Why hello!!  I'm decompressed and back in the city after Burning Man and happy to share my set from Bubbles & Bass, the best after hours camp on the playa.  This one's extra special to me as my set was only supposed to be an hour (11-noon), closing the party, however people were enjoying it so much, they stayed open and I played for nearly 2 hours longer than scheduled.  This mix represents the softer side of david hohme, comprised of my current favorite mellowed-out and melodic deep house tracks.  I like to call the style dream house.  Enjoy ;)

Thank you so much to my awesome friends at the Nutz Camp for hosting me and having me grace their decks for this magical sunrise set on Wednesday morning.  

This mix features tracks from all over the musical genre spectrum.  New, old, classics, hits, etc etc.  It's a fun journey that really made for a special morning with the sun coming up from behind the mountains. (for reference, I played Future Sound of London's "Papua New Guinea" for the sunrise…in my opinion, the perfect desert sunrise track).

Here's all 5.5 hours in it's unedited entirety, although I did chop out the silence in the spots where the power to the decks was kicked out…3 times!  I hope this takes you back to a beautiful playa sunrise.

Over the years we have had the pleasure to develop a friendship with Rob Garza of Thievery Corporation. 

As huge fans of the group, a collaboration to have them play at Robot Heart at Burning Man was always a dream, if an impossible one.

This year at Burning Man, just in time for the inaugural Heart & Soul sessions from Robot Heart and Thievery Corporation's 20th anniversary, we finally had the honor of hosting Thievery Corporation on the Playa.  Three years in the making, the product of serendipity, determination and a lot of team work, here is that amazing, unannounced sunset performance at the Robot Heart camp before an audience of thousands of burners. I had a nice time at the BPM festival this year down in Playa del Carmen, Mexico....There was consistently great music, perfect weather, and I got to see my friends from all over the world. Nascido em Santos, litoral de São Paulo, Nando passou aproximadamente 20 anos de sua vida na Europa, viveu 15 anos na Espanha e residia em Barcelona, onde se tornou Deejay no inicio dos 90s, sempre procurou desenvolver uma técnica dinâmica e eficaz, nutre seus sets com diferentes sonoridades criando uma fusão de diversos ritmos. Graças a sua experiência por vários países Nando adquiriu uma psicologia em leitura de pista, em suas atuações oferece na medida do possível o que o público presente deseja ouvir, procura sempre adaptar-se a atmosfera do club. 
Com um estilo dinâmico transcende por diversas atmosferas sonoras e o seu claro objetivo é o de transmitir e compartilhar diferentes sensações e emoções ao o publico presente em seus sets. Define o Deejay set como um momento onde as pessoas buscam sentir sensações através de peças sonoras, e cabe ao Deejay a função de transmitir essas sensações sem tirar o protagonismo da música, que é o que realmente se busca em um set. 
Desde de muito jovem foi influenciado por bandas como Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, The Cure, New Order, Sex Pistols, The Smiths, B 52s, etc. Sempre entusiasmado com a vanguarda musical com mente inquieta e curiosa decidiu deixar a sua terra natal no inicio dos anos 90 e seguiu rumo a Barcelona, onde começou a frequentar alguns Clubs da cidade e rapidamente veio a paixão pela musica eletrônica. Decidiu então estudar técnicas de mixagem ainda então com vinyl como formato na época, iniciou o estudo em uma conhecida escola de Barcelona "Microfusa", seu interesse foi tão grande que rapidamente recebeu apoio de grandes Djs da cena atual, importantes informações lhe foram dadas e a partir de ai foi desenvolvendo seu estilo.
Inglaterra, Itália, Bélgica, Suiza, Portugal e Espanha foram alguns dos países por onde passou, adquiriu uma ampla y eclética cultura musical, realizou uma profunda pesquisa na cultura musical de diversos lugares e atualmente utiliza o resultado dessa pesquisa como ferramenta na criação das suas atuações unindo harmônica e coerentemente diferentes sonoridades a fim de não entrar em monotonia.
Ao longo dos anos tocou em inúmeras Gigis e teve algumas residencias, uma das suas residências mais importantes foi no prestigioso e já extinto Clube Pacha de Empuriabrava, situada na Costa Brava, fronteira com a França, uma cidade turística do litoral nordeste Espanhol território natal do grande pintor Salvador Dali , nesse clube esteve com residente durante 2 anos e teve a oportunidade de realizar warm-ups para grandes Deejays da cena mundial nomes como Axwell ( Swedish House Mafia), Kurd Maverik, Seamus Haji, David Piccioni, David Gueta, J.Louis, Bob Sinclair, Gabi Cubero, Taito Tikaro, Simon & Shaker etc.
De volta ao Brasil à 1 ano, Nando encontrou uma cena saturadíssima mais mesmo assim vai conseguindo algumas gigis e já é Deejay residente da "Biscate Não Sente Frio" uma das melhores festas de SP e começa a ser convidado para alguns eventos, recentemente foi incorporado no Dj Booking de uma agência de Los Angeles, Califórnia"Charmlux Models". Seu objetivo atual é o de ficar no Brasil definitivamente. Consciente de que tem pela frente a dura missão de poder entrar na cena eletrônica Paulistana cada vez que tem a oportunidade de entrar em ação não a desperdiça e consegue que grande parte do público não fique indiferente. Atualmente vive em Iguape, uma pacata cidade do litora sul de São Paulo, tem como esporte predileto o surf, é no contato com a natureza que encontra seu refúgio para recarregar suas energias.
