What started as a chilly overcast Sunday afternoon in San Francisco this summer, blossomed into a full sunny dance floor, filled with good vibes and smiles. This is one of those extended sets where we really just flowed, went up, down, left, right, center, and back around again musically. The crowd was beautiful, eccentric, open minded, and electric - like only San Francisco can deliver.  Enjoy this 5 hour journey, and be sure to join us again on December 31st for NYE at Public Works. Whenever Ben Pundole requests my presence for the opening for one of his new ventures, I pack my bags and show up in high spirits. 

This time it was for the opening of the new 'The Wilde' members clubs in Milano and the after-show celebration of the concert of our dear and beautiful-hearted friend Ry X. An evening of legends in the intimate club house of Milan's newest treasure ; The Wilde.

The musical briefing was "loungey cocktails sexy vibes like your soul", this is my interpretation of that. Thank you Ben, Lauren, Ry and everyone who made this night memorable.

"Playing the Sunday morning closing set at Robot Heart at my first Burning Man was one of the most touching and rewarding moments of my musical adventure so far. I have always made music with the desert in mind, and this felt somehow like coming home, sharing it in the perfect environment. 

The manifestation of an intention - a full circle. 

Thanks to everybody who believes in my work and has helped me get this far on my journey, and to all the beautiful souls and amazing creatures who shared this moment and made it a special morning.

Be Svendsen - Robot Heart - Burning Man 2015

I knew what I was doing, I was going to Burning Man; but what I did not know was just how I’d assimilate and react to all the data, images, sounds, smells ... what would become of my ex-asthmatic anxieties and the difficulties of living in this kind of environment: dust, dust, and more dust!!  

In Black Rock City you'll find all the good and all the evil of this world, the only thing that changes is how you take it in, because here the available tools of art and provocation operate differently ... so why not the music too?

Whatever one may think, there is still a comfort zone in Black Rock City. It’s about attitude: it’s always with a given attitude that you do something to then obtain a determined result, break the routine, open up to something new, not appearance at all costs, just letting everything happen because it has to happen. Running the other way in a dark hostile but magical place like this with a voice that says, "I'm not afraid, I'm here now!” the same voice you hear when you're sitting all alone in front of the pyramid of Cheope, its outline standing out majestically in the dark ... far from comforting places. 

I saw some friends collapse because, inevitably, if you let something get to you here that something will change you. I believe that these people will come away with a greater awareness. There is no magic to Burning Man: there are those who listen and those who continue to sit in their comfort zone, the same as those who from home point fingers with their two bit sarcasm.

The moment when the Man burns is certainly one of the most contemporary and modern tribal experiences I've ever witnessed, it’s like being at the centre of a big blockbuster; but where the characters are no longer Ben Hur or gladiators!

On the Monday 70,000 people left Black Rock City and on the ground there wasn’t even a crumb .. only the footprints of those who had been there, which the wind will take care to remove all traces of.
Thanks to everyone who made this experience so special. Thanks Jan, Anton, Amanda, Eduardo, Michelly, Tara, Chris, Reagan, Martinik, Susan, Rachel, Jonathan, Laura, Benjamin, Jason,  Andrew, Ko, Behrouz, Eugenia,  all the people with whom I had a conversation, and of course Brian Eno and Peter Gabriel! Danila, Rita and all my family.

My set at Robot Heart is dedicated to Pierluca Rossi, you too were in Black Rock City.

A 13′ tall steel question mark at a 10 degree slant and is held up by a 7′ human form. A female form embraces the human form. The idea is to evoke the question of how relationships and others affect our identity.

CHAPTER II

B L A C K O U T. No sound, no light, it is total darkness on the dance floor, a complete power outage. I immediately tell myself it must be the breaker or generator. The technician appears and he start troubleshooting.

I grab my african shaker and play a little rhythm to keep people entertained. My loyal trooper friends in the DJ booth start humming a song to mask the silence.

Four, five, six minutes pass by, but it feels like an eternity. People from the crowd are slowly walking away but the people who were the most in the flow remain on the dance floor, optimistic that we will solve the problem. We conclude that the powerbar where all the DJ gear is connected is causing the breaker to shut down, with too much water leaking on it during the storm. We quickly find a replacement, unplug, replug, and turn it on again. SUCCESS! All the lights are shining and the gear is back online again. 

Decision time–  in what direction will I take this set now? Do I start where I left off, or should I build a new set? Over 10 minutes of dead silence, the energy from the previous set is completely lost. The people on the dancefloor are patiently waiting for the next chapter and I trust them immensely. 

They are troopers, music lovers, as they remained with me through the downpour. This trust allows me to take my time to rebuild a new foundation for the rest of the journey. I go into my “Intro & acoustic”  folder again and choose a record. Chapter II begins. 

I truly felt grateful for Mother Nature playing her part in this adventure by joining us on the dancefloor. I was overwhelmed with a sense of being alive and present, and I was so grateful & thankful to share this experience with these beautiful people.
