One of my favorite nights and sets of the year was playing on the Maxa Art Car! The energy from everyone there was absolutely euphoric.

Magic people + magic art car = magical moments. Thank you to everyone who danced with me that night—for your energy and your love. It means the world to me, and I hope that same energy can be felt while listening to this set.

Julia Sandstorm - Maxa - Burning Man 2025

Hard to describe this evening. A life highlight for me. Playing my favorite Art Car during Man Burn, surrounded by so many of my favorite people. Including my full Ikigai camp family, and my younger sister, who was living her first Burn. 
A night I will remember forever. 

A bit on the music selection: this burn felt unique. Lots of ups & downs for so many, emotions running raw across the playa. So I decided on a set that was more emotional and intentional. Less of a party set, more of a release. 

Closing out with a big thank you to the entire Maxa crew who work tirelessly to get this car going for all of us to enjoy. And a big thank you for trusting me with this moment. 

I hope everyone enjoys listening to this set just as much as I enjoyed playing it.

As the first release from Burning Man 2025, we’re honored to share a set that carries a different kind of Playa energy - one made for a night like Burn Night. Bilal blessed us with a set rich in soul and grit, channeling the roots of house from Detroit, Chicago, and New York - the very foundation that shaped the dance floor. 🕺🏽✨

In Bilal’s own words:

this was burn #11 for me. and you'd think you know what to expect by now. but NOPE! this place really knows how to throw a curveball at all of us... but seeing people bounce back and knock that curveball out of the park is more amazing to see. 

i really didnt know what to expect on Man Burn Night, surrounded by all the different art cars and crowds. its basically like standing in the TV section at Best Buy with every channel blaring at once. 

anyway, this mix is the result of the environment at the time. i had fun sharing this music and i hope you do too.

Absolutely, Deep, Dark & Sexy! Iman Rizky’s sounds keeps many wanting more. His endless energy penetrates throughout the night, from the bar overflowing to the dance floor. As he lays one track after another, Iman creates a tight helm at the deck, draw..

IMAN RIZKY was bred on house beats from the early '80s and '90s.  His relationship with dance music back then was a transcendental experience every weekend at places like New York City's Red Zone, the Tunnel, Limelight’s Disco 2000, the Sound Factory, and the legendary Twilo.  Iman became a promoter for the Tunnel, Limelight, and the Palladium during the club scene era of the late '80s.  His immersion in the heyday of club culture in NYC prompted the pursuit of his true life-long passion of DJing. With his extensive knowledge of dance music from both participation and promotion, he was able to cultivate a unique DJ sound to call his own.  As the club scene era wound down and the dance music scene went underground in the early 2000s, Iman formed the party production group, Ku-Deta, which put together events stateside as well as internationally.  Around the same time, he started his weekly DJ residency at SEA in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where he on Fridays and Sundays for the past 14 years.

Ku-Deta provided a precursory template for ebb + flow music, an NYC-based production company that Iman Rizky founded with Gavin Stephenson in 2013. The underground parties of ebb + flow music have brought consistent high quality music and an undeniably contagious vibe to the dance music scene. As an ebb + flow resident, Iman's DJ sets are laden with minimal groovy beats layered with melodic sounds that build in a cycle of high peaks and low valleys. He takes the crowd on a thrilling roller coaster ride of music that elevates the mind, moves the body, and satisfies the soul. In the summer of 2014, Iman took ebb + flow to another level with collaboration on music production with Justin Marchacos and Gavin Stephenson. The trio became Second Format and has been producing tracks with driving bass lines and catchy, danceable hooks. Justin and Second Format's Giants EP was released on the Cityfox label and charted in the Top 10 on Beatport within its first week.

His constant motivation, desire to please and ability to bring people together to enjoy great music have made him one of the most respected and innovative DJs of today’s music scene. Episode 148 - Kimono Disco | Iman Rizky (Burning Man 2025)

Thursday early a.m. carried the full spectrum of the playa: the waiting and then the lift of it all finally coming together. It was dark and still, fragile and fleeting, but in that moment everything was in motion. Riche at the helm. 

“Arriving at this moment on the Playa, playing for Robot Heart was the definition of delayed gratification after so much blood, sweat, and tears.

We arrived in 70 mph winds on Saturday, and our plane made the fastest landing the control tower had ever seen. Then we had to postpone the bus twice, and it truly seemed like it wasn’t going to happen this year. But somehow, at the very last moment, they ran into my camp, found me in the dinner line, and asked if I could play that first clear night. It all came together in that imperfect yet perfect playa way, and now it’s a memory I’ll never forget.

After days of storms and chaos, we were all ready to finally let go and dance. We rocked the bus, and I couldn’t stop smiling, surrounded by the joy of it all.

To my Robot Heart family, thank you for welcoming me into yours and trusting me with this moment. The bus is history, the future, and a hallowed place for music.

I couldn’t have done it without my friends, my community, and everyone who helped make it happen. I love you all to the moon and back. Thank you. We did it.

And to everyone watching now, I hope you feel the energy and love we all felt that night from the 🤖❤️.”
