I love MIA Beach, the venue, the crowd, the crew and the night vibes in Tulum, under the stars, surrounded by palm trees and the Caribbean beach makes a great setting for wild and long dance rituals. Finally! The live recording of such a beautiful night/sunrise we spent in Atlixco, Mexico, with the Amores Experience family celebratin Dia de los Muertos in a magic way. So happy to have performed there, the energy was surreal, from the venue, to the people, to the other artists. It's been definitely one of the highlights of my Mexico tour and even my whole year. Music is a bit upbeat, but the context definitely allowed it.

"My friends at disco knights were kind enough to let me play at their fundraiser. I support what they do, especially at Burning Man, so i was stoked to be able to play for them.

My personal title to this mix is: "No Pictures Cuz She Didn't Take Any <insert sad face> @ Disco Knights Jun-22"

The opening track (by Pharoah Sanders) I heard for the first time when DJ Kemit played it on his Saturday morning Twitch stream. In fact, almost every Saturday started with this song. Definitely check his Twitch stream out. The rest of the mix I unintentionally played for her. She didn't know at the time. But I told her later. <3

The dance music portion of the mix is heavily influenced by some of my favorite artists in the business, in particular, Kai Alce and Louie Vega. I am constantly learning a lot. And I love it all the time. And I hope it shows."

"While I’ve made many early morning expeditions to Robot Heart, this was my first adventure playing the famous bus. It was a bespoke musical experience and a true honor to play and become part of the family. Dust storms had been blowing amok that night, so many parties had been cancelled; yet so many fabulous people came out to dance and make it an unforgettable party.

My sound explores the spaces between groovy & psychedelic. I always try to bring a deeper experience to the dance floor without taking things too seriously. I want people to experience a heightened connection with the music, but most importantly just laugh and have a good time. I hope that vibe shines through in this recording. Much love."

These last few months, I've spent a fair amount of time musing over my own artistic identity and my place within the bigger space. 

What does it meant to be a "deep house DJ"..."progressive DJ"..."tech-house DJ"..."Burner DJ" [cringe]...and so on?
Does it even matter? Artistically, no, not in the slightest.

But practically, I've come to believe that it does, evidenced by the constrained expectations and sometimes bemusement of promoters who book me.

Unfortunately, being perceived and labeled on a singular dimension isn't such a great thing.
But the good news is that the solution is to just keep doing what I love to do: releasing mixes that weave in and out of moods and feelings, taking you to a destination hopefully different than where you started.
