A psychedelic rock mix from the late 60s when popular music was great art. Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Love, The Kinks, The Who and many others.
There was a technical problem with the turntable they gave me which I tried to balance out in the mix. It finally packed up when I played The Moody Blues 'Dear Diary' so I had to cut that short. Stuck to digital after that.
Recorded at Neustockland floor on Saturday 17th August at the Bay of Dreamers 2024.
What has that photo above to do with this kind of music? You may well ask. It is an old photo of a beach in India where I spent a lot of time when I was young and listening to these tracks. So for me it is very connected and moves me deeply. Where is it? Here's a hint - right by Joe Banana.

"the latin word "alucinari" means mind-wandering" - not that I know latin, I just copied it down. but fundamentally, that's what this set is about. to stumble hypnotically forward, starting in the urban space and then somehow trying to get to a place where we are unfamiliar and can no longer understand anyone. the light changes, the green becomes richer, the clouds move up the mountain, and we become calmer. escaped from the hustle and bustle,
we have found the velvet."

"das lateinische wort alucinari bedeutet „im geiste wandern“ - nicht dass ich latein könnte, ich habe das bloß abgeschrieben. aber im grunde geht es in diesem set genau darum. hypnotisch nach vorne stolpern, beginnend im städtischen raum und dann irgendwie versuchen dahin zu kommen, wo wir uns nicht auskennen und niemanden mehr verstehen. das licht verändert sich, das grün wird satter, die wolken schieben sich den berg hinauf und wir werden ruhiger.

Hello wonderful people, 
this is our daytime set from Saturday at Schweissperle at Bucht der Träumer* Festival.
This wasn’t a set about driving the dancefloor. It was an invitation to listen, to breathe, to soften, to simply be. And whenever we looked around, we saw exactly that: people feeling free to do what felt right in that moment, dancing slowly in the sunlight, smiling at each other, hugging, crying, resting, whatever their hearts called for. It was truly touching to witness this unfolding around us.

So when people came over during or after the set, hugging us with tears in their eyes, saying the music moved them so deeply it filled them with gratitude for life and for the ones they love and care for… uff. These are the moments we live and create music for: to be human together in sound.

Sometimes, when words fall short, the music speaks. And in this space, it spoke for us and with you. Every track we chose carries a special place in our hearts. This set was very personal, and sharing it with you in this way meant so much to us.

Endless gratitude to @arnau-yuna for trusting us and inviting us into this moment. To the whole crew for building such a cozy, beautiful floor, and to @rebelliondertraumer for shaping a weekend full of magic that is one of the highlights of the summer for so many of us. And to every single soul who opened up, showed vulnerability, or reached out with the sweetest messages full of honesty and warmth. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Robot Bennett – “Book me before I die”

How many people do you know who take up DJing in their late 60s?  And how many are actually really good? The answer is one – Robot Bennett.

The Robot is a wonderful, incredible anomaly. His love of electronic music stretches back to the early 90’s, when he tasted first hand the fabled golden era of techno clubs in Berlin where he has lived since 1982. He was at the Loveparade. He danced in the warehouses and basements, revelled at the festivals, and absorbed all of this influence from one side of the equation.

A lifelong musician, he balanced his passion alongside a career as a body therapist and yoga teacher. During a group breath work session he was playing one of his own techno mixes and a club booker just happened to be part of the group. The booker was so impressed by Robot's mix that he suggested he try his hand at DJ'ing. It was the spark that lit the bonfire.

Robot Bennett uses Ableton Live with an APC 40 Mk II controller for DJ'ing.

He plays hard techno – a dark and sometimes ominous sound interspersed with some lighter tunes and the occasional vintage track.

Robot Bennett also plays 60’s and early 70’s classic psychedelic rock. He has enjoyed playing the music of his youth at Nation of Gondwana, Hans & Gloria, Mensch Meier, Rummelsbucht, Bucht der Träumer and at New Years parties in Sisyphos.
