Objekt at Draaimolen Festival 2024

Finally releasing my opening set recorded live on Saturday March 8 2025 for COMPOUND X KLOCKWORKS warehouse party somewhere in DTLA.

The journey begins in an atmospheric expanse—soft synth pads drift like slow-moving clouds. A deep, sub-bass murmur hums beneath, barely perceptible; adding texture, immersing the listener in a meditative state. The tempo is undefined, time suspended.

A muted kick drum emerges, cushioned by reverb—a heartbeat from the void. The tension is subtle, anticipatory.

The bassline evolves into a looping, cyclical pattern, repetitive yet morphing subtly with filter sweeps. A hypnotic synth arpeggio locks in, its phrasing just off-grid, inducing a trance-like state.

The kick slams back, heavier and more distorted, now flanked by a modulating acid line or a dissonant staccato stab. The rhythm is relentless, but the dub textures keep it organic.

The techno groove is locked, but the dub elements warp and smear across it. The kick decays into echoes, the bassline unravels, and the track collapses back into the ambient void from which it came—leaving only a fading drone and the memory of rhythm.

With over 30 years of experience exploring sound and psychedelics—from pioneering New York City’s early ’90s psytrance scene to cofounding the techno/house label Railyard Recordings—Matt eventually shifted his focus from nightlife to clinical psychology.
