Kicking into the first fully lockdown-free year we’ve had since 2019, the message is clear as the Knights Of Frequency bossman lays down four rump shaking grooves that have already been big flavours in the sets of Robsoul’s Phil Weeks.
Three originals, one revision: Each cut has its own special magic and flavour ranging from the sweet swing and funky touches of the title track to the darker acid house bass elements of ‘It’s A Jazz Thing’ to the funkier nuances of ‘Step Back’. Hold tight for more of those touches as the filtered disco essence is brought right the fore on his Disco Revision, an edit so rooted in its foundation essence you could swear it actually is 1990 all over again. Hebdonis - Step Back - Original Mix

Robsoul reaches across the pond once again as LA house purveyor, Mikey V, returns to the label with three brand-new bumpin’ jams on his 'Closer' EP.
Rasping snares, shuffling hats and soulful vocal chops underpin the title track ‘Closer’, before a hollowed out bassline and synth stabs launch the track skywards from its breakdown.
Mikey sends us into 'Freefall’ on the flip with a skippier, lighter touch, but also a wobbling, swollen bassline that hits hard. Final cut 'Stay High’ matches the club-bound bump,  with a full-fire jazz ensemble of cascading keys and dancing sax, working together to deliver some major fancy footwork appeal.

Mikey V - Closer

Canadian house purveyor and Robsoul regular, Vincent Caira, returns to the fold with Jet Fuel Gelato - a funk soaked, uplifting house number that nods to the past while being perfectly assembled for all modern dancefloors.

Named after the strain of THC-soaked bud, the track takes the listener on a wonky-disco workout with a phat bottom end and oscillating effects that create the perfect hazy atmosphere for the late-night dancefloor.

The House brings a staunch kick, dancing bassline and smooth smokey keys, that work together to deliver deep, jazzy groover. Discoworx lives up to its title, delivering snappy beats, sparkling chords and firing filters, all keeping the disco torch burning bright.

Lebedev returns to Phil Weeks' ever-trusted Robsoul imprint with another collection of razor-sharp house grooves on his 'Crazy Sample' EP.
Opener Crazy Sample sports grainy, analogue qualities - dusty, deep and raw house drums and a swollen, bassline that works beautifully with the vocal samples to create a mellow but funky groove.
Little Beat locks us in from the first beat. Claps, open hats, resonating kick drums and 808 percussive flairs compliment this crackling, lo-fi house jam.
Finally, Jazzy Smooth does what it says on the tin - a rolling and bumping house groove underpinned by thumping kick drums, hook-laden jazz-sax samples and some legend-Louis vocal chops, resulting in a shimmying, feel good bump-a-thon.

Phil Weeks is a house music purist. Whether DJing or producing, the Parisian with the huge personality delivers raw beats influenced in equal measure by
classic Chicago house and nu‐school French flair, underpinned with a hip‐hop attitude. His long running Robsoul Recordings also defines him as one of the
most skilled label heads in underground house music.
In the studio Phil is dedicated to classic hardware like Akai’s MPC 3000 sampler and Roland’s TR909 drum machine. He has released more than 250 tracks and
remixes since his debut in 2000, working with labels including 2020 Vision, Music For Freaks, Brique Rouge, Detour, Adult Only and his own Robsoul, which
is responsible for the majority of his original output. 

Phil’s work can also be found in the collaborations Fries & Bridges (with Hector Moralez) and PS Project/Bubba Beats & Kid Piston (with DJ Sneak). Production highlights include Phil’s three albums ‘Love Affair’ (2011), ‘Yeah I Like That’ (2003) and ‘Raw Instrumental’ (2012), alongside style‐defining singles ‘Hypnose’, ‘It Put Me Well’ and ‘All Day Every Day’. The music has been
heavily supported by international dance press including achieving accolades such as MixMag’s and De‐Bug’s ‘Album Of The Month’, while DJs ranging from
Danny Howells and Yousef to Mark Farina and DJ Sneak consistently play his tracks. Behind the decks, Phil has racked up enough air miles to take him around the
world several times over, with appearances at the world’s leading house clubs ‐ Queen’s Club, Sankeys, Circus, Ministry of Sound, Back to Basics and Stereo are
all regular haunts, alongside his Paris residency ‘Get Underground’ at the infamous Rex Club.

Phil has also fully embraced the relationship with his fans and house music fans in general – whether through his popular ‘Underground Chronicles’ video diaries
on Youtube or his personal relationships on Facebook.
Despite his success Phil isn’t one to brag. To him it’s all about keeping proper house music alive. Which just goes to prove Phil Weeks is a house music purist.
