In 2011, just a sophomore in high school, David James Dotterweich started his career as a DJ and promoter, throwing huge parties on the outskirts of Minneapolis in venues ranging from warehouses, barns, and suburban homes.

Looking to dive into the rising electronic music scene developing on the east coast, David attended college at the University of Massachusetts. Being anything but a DJ in college was not an option, as David started DJing his own rush parties before even pledging and becoming a brother of Alpha Epsilon Pi. David was given the name DJ Copenhagen by his pledge master, probably because his beats were as addicting as the chewing tobacco.

During his time at UMass, DJ Cope established himself a sensation on campus, performing sets from 9PM to 3 or 4 in the morning 2 or 3 times a week at Amherst's most notorious party house, 11 Phillips Street ( http://onlyintherepublicofamherst.blogspot.com/2014/02/public-safety-crackdown.html).

From there he went on to establish residencies at Amherst's top nightclubs Monkey Bar and Lit. In addition he played the UMass Mullins Center twice, opening for Jauz and Seven Lions at Life in Color and Rae Sremmurd for a Halloween party. 

DJ Copenhagen is only getting started, his production and mixing skills get better by the day, as he coins a style focused not on simply pushing a button and playing what he thinks is hot, but instead reading the audience and creating the most fun atmosphere possible through the power of his music.
