Rhythm of the Night

This song has had a facelift, I originally wrote it back in 2001, then I rewrote parts of it in 2020 during the pandemic, then I recently touched it up a bit and produced a video for it. It's a little weird but I tried to convey the feeling when you're starting to lose your mind and life becomes harder and harder to deal with, it's a bit Grungy. I had to edit it down because it was like 6 minutes long! If you watch the video when I post it on YouTube, it will all become clear! It's a bit disturbing so listen with an open mind! This is not for everybody, I've had this buried for like over 20 years. This audio is from the video that's why it's so noisy.

This song was written for piano by Hitoshi Yasui, chairhouse of Tokyo, who was generous in allowing me to arrange and record it for guitar. It is from his "Piano Ten Thousand Leaves" project. His mission “is to create gentle, calm, peaceful, beautiful, relaxing piano music and share it with all human beings." He writes, records and posts one beautiful piano composition each day. When Mirjam sung on my playback 'On my knees' -->  "https://soundcloud.com/mirjam-keijnemans/rock-flexible-and-mirjam-keijnemans" we agreed that it could be a nice idea to start with an collab-song together. Mirjam sent me a guitar track and one vocal track. Soon I laid out the background vocals by shifting parts of the original vocals. The song has no BPM because Mirjam played it free flowin' without click track. A job for a real drummer, so I asked Peter (the drummer of https://soundcloud.com/oesj) and he was so kind to play his excellent drums for this track. Then I added bass guitar and some guitar adlibs here and there ... that's it. We hope you like it and enjoy listening so much as we do :)
I have to say it was an absolute pleasure to work with Mirjam on this track and I thank her for the draft track and her patience. I also thank Peter for accepting and mastering the challenge! Thank you all, I am blessed!

Rock Flexible is a spare-time guitar player, multi-instrumentalist, producer and singer based in Berlin, Germany.
