Everything was lies and we were waiting to be bought
The Government strived to be our greatest existential threat.
While we were left to wonder where the missing money went


It’s the end of days so war is waged on the whim of the highest bidder
As all our wages fall away and pay to light the tinder.
The refugees aren’t human beings, they’re here to take your job
So they’re forced to drown in human waste - and all benefits are stopped

What once was evil, now is normal - noone calls it out
Protests have been outlawed and the press are all locked down
Either tow the party line and pledge allegiance to the flag
Or you’re branded an extremist and you’re banished from this land.


Forests fires are burning and the ocean is ablaze
Cities underwater as life goes down the drain
Starve the poor in the name of war as food goes up in flames
If you pay off the rich, then they'll pass on the blame.

But they plan to get away; they’ll send themselves to outer space
Thinking that they will save the day and start a brand new human race
The earth is ripped apart. It’s turning inside out
The Holocene extinction started, so they’re getting out


They blast off with a bang to leave the whimpering behind
Soon they’ll find that they don't pine for fabled simpler times.
 

We’re running out of time
It’s the dying of the light
The final straw has been ignored - we've lit the dynamite
So go anything but gentle into that good night.
