Cryptic Matter is an American alternative metal band from Baltimore, MD, created in 2011. The band was founded by Justin Bidinger (Drums), Devin Greenburg (vocals, guitar), Steve Hung (guitar), and Adam Bidinger (bass). Adam parted ways with the band and shortly thereafter came the additions of John Perry (bass) and Andrea Lauzon (keys).

Cryptic Matter generates its sound from alternative, funk, metal, and international music. Tragedy Guide and Asphexia were inspired by Asian sitars while upcoming Land of Kush in the traditional sounds of flamenco. With band members having roots in various parts of the world (Europe, South America, and Asia) the integration of the culture was pivotal in defining the direction of the band. This blend of influences of music and culture has created the exotic, groovy, and hard hitting music you will hear from Cryptic Matter.

It's been a fun run, but I'm closing down OnlyBoots. I'm moving on to different projects permanently now. I have been fiddling around with the idea for a while and decided now was a good time to make the change final. Thanks for all the support throughout OnlyBoots' lifetime!


OnlyBoots, an aspiring EDM artist based in Los Angeles, California, is ready to showcase his personality and character with a culture-driven brand of EDM. With his cocktail of musical talent, conservative tendencies (in everything but music) and passion for the internet and pop culture, OnlyBoots' experiments in dubstep result in an unmistakably distinctive musical catharsis.

OnlyBoots (real name, Alex), so named after his sister nicknamed him 'Boots' when he was just a wee lad, could have turned out so differently. His first real encounter with music came in the form of piano lessons, quitting after only a few sessions. For that reason, OnlyBoots is almost entirely self-taught both musically and in the software he uses to create his music.

As a child, OnlyBoots' musical interests were primarily in rap and hip-hop, as he listened to Scarface, Ghostface Killah, and other hardcore artists. The stories those artists told entertained him, but, somewhere within, a latent passion for melody and sound was beginning to develop, eventually superseding the 'stories from the hood' he had so once loved: "I felt that I related better to EDM than hip-hop, so I switched up my entire iTunes playlist."

A defining point of his career came when he first heard "Illmerica" by Wolfgang Gartner. Inspired by its melody and variety of musical styling, Boots soon made the decision to make a career out of his music.

OnlyBoots' achievements to date include releases on VET Records, Xeno Recordings, and Bombeatz Ink, while his forthcoming concept EP is rumored to contain three meme-based songs. This love for memes, American politics, movies and pop culture is vital to OnlyBoots' capacity to stamp his personality on his music, but it's his interest in memes that is perhaps most intriguing.

With the ebb and flow of internet culture on his side, fans of dubstep can always expect innovation from OnlyBoots, something he finds so empowering: "I hope that the people who listen to my music are filled with happiness and surprise. Happiness because music should be a pleasurable experience to the listener, and surprise so that they don't feel that they're listening to something on loop."
