Created in New York City, downtown 2010 specifically, Rocky Business is audio vitality. The band is comprised of four city-born-but-cultured gentlemen: SB of Brooklyn the witty wordsmith, Toronto's Jonny who doubles as a producer and a vocalist, the reclusively chill Cudoz also of Brooklyn plays bass and the highly energetic drummer Ryan from Queens, makes the collective complete.
 
Initially formed a passion-project in a Hell's Kitchen studio between Jonny’s structured aesthetic and SB’s untamed creative energy. The other members merged, and evolved all within 2010, when they also released their self-titled mixtape.
 
The mixtape's acclaim allowed for the band to perform with fellow acts such as Azealia Banks, Death Set, Diplo, Rick Ross, Theophilus London and the Wu-Tang Clan amongst many others. Although their music speaks for itself, the band's electrifying, and undeniable live shows act as visual illustrations of their energy, vision and skill.
 
Self-described as the "Oracles of Originality," the band offers the ear no musical limitations. They are cultivating a new genre-- a unique blend of the stylings of soul, the energy of electro with elements of punk and hip-hop, and they do it all exceptionally well.
 
They are expanding the possibilities of the sound palette by blending their influences while creating new ones. Rocky Business brings a keen individuality to their music that is new and only necessary. They are the new urban sonics: ushering in a new wave of music and culture while stimulating growth.
 
Rocky Business wants you to taste the future. They present to you, July’s Joy. A collection of songs created with the intent to bring listeners into the "soul realm." July’s Joy is for the innovative individual, who is on a quest for more than materialistic content in music. Are you ready to liberate yourself?
 
The band stays true to their genre while exploring deeper sounds within it as they present to the world, their most thought provoking music to date. The album gives an ambiance of a musical soul travel along the trans-Atlantic through the present day toward the future.
 
It begins with “The King is Dead,” which represents the demise of your present-day ruler and the restoration of power to the people. “Natural Born” deals with sadistic love, ala Mickey and Mallory in sonic form.  “German Shepherd,” is a cautionary tune, warning foes to retreat. “King Kobra Snakeskin Ferragamo’s” is dedicated to the most famous serpent in the world, the snake from the Garden of Eden. “The Cattle” is for the leaders, “The Gift” is about artists, like the band who live in a constant state of self-giving to their art, regardless of how it turns out. “A Lovely Hate,” tackles unhealthy admiration: to be loved, only when you’re inferior. The title track comes to us last, as a symbol of one’s graduation from the journey, a celebration of all of the knowledge acquired from the lessons July’s Joy provides.
 
A few of the track's intros include addictive Afro-Latin samples but aside from those sultry sprinklings, all the music is performed by the band; and all lyrics are originally epic, per usual. Collaborations include Action Bronson, Azealia Banks, B.C. Kingdom, Homeboy Sandman, Fresh Daily and Maggie Horn. With co-production from Tek, Om'mas Keith, Chaddubz and The Catalyst.
