Stephen and I recorded a chunk of this together a in Berlin, back when it was hot enough to sip delicious pink slushies outside Refuge Worldwide. During the show he lifts the lid on his Soft Spot for PC Music  and their affiliated artists, which is both fascinating and pretty oddball (a perfect Soft Spot combination). For the final 45, you’re treated to a more dancefloor focused selection of swinging 90s house and I open the show with downtempo pop and electronic.

RTD is the moniker of Roddy Taylor, a DJ & record collector hailing from the UK and now based in the Netherlands. RTD runs the monthly Soft Spots radio show on Echobox Radio, where he and guests explore a genre that they have a particular soft spot for. In the second half, he shares a selection of peak time heat. All vinyl, recorded in Amsterdam, on a chilly 3 degrees Friday night.

Ep 331 pt.2 w/ RTD

For this month's show we decided to dedicate the full two hours to tracks exclusively from Japanese artists. The first 45 is a meandering journey through ambient, soft piano chords, dub and Japanese pop, before Lou jumps in and shares her soft spot for Japanese animation movies and anime, highlighting the musical diversity that comes through in their soundtracks. It's a lesson in itself! For the final 30 Lou lets loose and explores more percussive club sounds, breaks and footwork.

This one was recorded in Auckland, NZ with guest @scarlettlauren who co-runs the party series, @Friendlypotential.

For her Soft Spot, we reminisced about specific records and moments she experienced on the Friendly Potential dancefloor over the years. It was a great trip down memory lane and a lovely way to get an understanding of the parties they throw and the variety of special music that has been shared. It's a super varied selection! She closes the last 45mins with a lovely club-ready mix and house and techno. I warm up with a selection of chug, italo and slow-house.

A label utterly dedicated to its pursuit of showcasing quality electronic music that consistently, for the best part of 10 years, has stayed true to its roots pushing high-quality electronic music. For his Soft Spot, Giovanni takes us on a trip down memory lane, sharing music from 'London memories' and recounting stories that have stood out along the way. Seb then finishes with a nice mix of house groovers. I do the warm up with some 100bpm chug & dub. It's a lovely show, filled with good vibes and tons of different styles of music - exactly what soft spots is all about :)

For the last show of the 2023 top gizza, koen.fm, joins me in the studio. He shares a Soft Spot focusing on the music he plays in the classroom during his day job as a school teacher. There's some funny and heart warming stories in there, including highly rated song suggestions from an 8yr old and Koen sharing music that actually makes plants grow (true story!!).

The whole two hours is a subtle ride through ambient, triphop, ethereal instrumentals and all round downtempo goodness to sooth the soul.

For the latest Softs Spots show we welcome the lovely @adren_alina to the studio, whilst visiting from Berlin. She runs the wicked @smoovemoceanrec label along with her partner @atree-music. Alina shared a soft spot focusing on some of her favourite female artists from the late 80s and 90s. Expect synth fused house, funk pumpers and plenty of interesting stories behind her selection. Super happy to have her in the studio, she is a cracking DJ with impeccable taste!
