Based on an original idea by fellow producer Lennart, Slow Motion & Ritmo Fatale are joining forces in creating a new entity in the italo-disco multiverse : Universo Parallelo. On this ten tracks various the idea is to showcase artists from both labels, trying to merge their Italian and French music approaches. Known faces, new aliases & fresh newcomers share the bill on this existing adventure !

Founded in 2009 by Italian artists Franz Scala and Fabrizio Mammarella, Slow Motion Records has since become well-loved and respected for showcasing the very finest dance music from a collection of contemporary Italian producers. Now running between Italy and Berlin, the label remains focused on staying true to the original feelings and vibes that have been present on dancefloors the world over for the last 30 years.

Operating since early 2020, Toulouse-based Ritmo Fatale is the label held by French duo Kendal & Paul. They are bringing back italo-disco and sounds inherited from the 80s and 90s on the front of the stage under an hybrid and modernized form, boosted with EBM & early trance influences. They like to call it ‘Italo Body Music’.

Longtime passionate about discovering and sharing music, cultural and artistic references; launching and managing their own label is for them the best way to express their identity.

My traditional gift for dancers, listeners and DJs right before Christmas. This year it's a remix for Audio Bullys legendary track "We Don't Care". Original track was released in 2003 - the year I started my DJ career. Vocal line was in my head since I heard this song. Back in 2007 I saw their live show in Vilnius - Nokia Trends event. It was my first electronic live act, that night I also heard DJ Hell for the first time in my life. Sandly but missed Ladytron concert on the cue ( luckily I got in there at all - I was 15 years old ). Standing there and listening to these legends was a true inspiration for me. Since that moment I was thinking that one day I'm gonna make music like them. So after 20 years of dreaming, I present to you my version of one of the very special songs in my musical career. Like in the original track video clip I used to go to the clubs when I was very young - happy I didn't miss myself in this tricky nightlife style and music was always first. This remix was leading me all last year in every single event - it's time to let it go! Merry Christmas and happy new year.

Layered with arpeggiated sounds their remix adds a structured dynamism that contrasts yet complements the track's underlying turbulence. The result is a chaotic harmony, capturing the track's essence while expanding its auditory impact. Energy (Mala Ika Remix) Taking inspiration from In Between's standout dancefloor gem 'Energy,' Paris-based Mala Ika channels Kraftwerk-like vibes with an elevated pitch and vocal stabs that infuse a lighter, almost disco feel. The remix adds brightness and an irresistible house rhythm, lifting the darker original into a pulsing, robotic world, creating a track that feels equally human and mechanical. We’re happy to cordially invite you to the Regression Session, hosted by eternal Philadelphia scene flag bearers @zillasonacid ! And if you think this sounds awfully lot like a scam, you’re probably right: „Regression Session“ is just a front of their illegal black market operation, trading raw uncut gems on a large scale. Just listen to the opener and title track and you won’t exactly have a strong case for the Zillas selling out, but rough as it is, this thing is capable of destroying any dancefloor it touches. Looking at their recent releases it’s fair to say the Z’s are on quite a run, putting out music on labels like Permanent Vacation, Throne Of Blood, Multi Culti or Ivan Smagghe’s Disques de la Mort. Tunes like the sneaky rough slow burners „Underling“ or „Start Digging“ sound like they could be lifted from the latter’s infamous DJ sets, while the deceptively titled „Cha Cha Cha“ or closer „Casual Observer“ justify the „Acid“ in the artist name. „Shining Snakes Across The Lake“ is what some years might have been called a mid-tempo house roller and probably counts as downtempo these days. Speaking of tempos, the penultimate „Sweet Days Of Discipline“ starts of masquerading as reaaally downtempo, but ends up throwing 155bpm kick drums at you, so better watch out, all you k-hole ravers! Let’s not forget to talk about „bquiet“, which is what you’d call mid-tempo house these days (125bpm) and uses the eternally banging combination of a jacking beat, a polyrhythmic bass line, some lead-synth stabs and talking vocal slices. You can practically smell the sweat. So what’s left to say? What you see is what you get: They are Zillas, and they are on Acid. And they provide a collection of eight tunes that probably each don’t necessarily have a double-digit amount of tracks in their DAW projects, and that’s exactly what makes them so forceful. As part of his Next Wave Acid Punx series, Curses offers up his “Revamp” of Deborah Sasson’s (Carmen) Danger In Her Eyes, a curio from the wildly inventive mid late 80s that saw the American opera singer collaborate with German producers MCL (MicroChipLeague). A European chart topper on its original release, it's long since languished in obscurity, but in Curses' hands this mix of operatic vocals and raw house beats is now ready to add its more than a touch of melodrama to dancefloor's once again. 

"Hearing opera on the dance floor always hits me in a special way," explains Curses. "Decadent operatic vocals within decadent euphoric club environments just transports you to another time and place. When I first heard Danger In Her Eyes I was immediately inspired to make an edit that embraced that operatic escape but elevated the energy with harder drums and a proto-Trance EBM attitude like ate 80s early 90s releases from Manufacture, Interfront or BOY records.”

The next 12 incher on Wrong Era is made by Marching Machines, a duo made of two Belgian powerhouses: Dimitri Andreas and Spacid. Their love for electronic machine manipulation and their musical history that spans over 2 decades, built an excellent foundation for this brand new project. “Lonesome” is a slow burning dark electro track with howling and gloomy synths that flow into acidic tendencies. “Desolat” continues on the emotional path of the previous track, embracing solitude on a broken rhythm, ending up in arpeggiating classic and cosmic italo track. In succession of that, there’s “Driven” which moves up to dancefloor dynamics by using harder and raw sounds, combined with an analogue pulsewave sound generator and building into a release of energy with wavy synths and smashing snares. The final track is a remix of “Lonesome” by one of Wrong Era’s label bosses Fabrizio Mamarella. While the original idea is still intact, the remix is a definite bigger and faster version, implying a stark contrast that still remains powerful, perfectly made for the dancefloor.

HF: How did you discover this track?
FM: I was doing research over the lockdown, I was looking for proto techno releases from '88 to '91 and I've found this track on discogs.
It's a german production from '88 released on the amazing ZYX records. 

HF: Can you tell us more about the rework?
FM: The original track contains the famous speech by Martin Luther King "I have a dream" but I've decided to cut it and give more space to the instrumental parts and extend the acid elements. I think it's more effective on the dancefloor now.
