For Jesse Somfay music has always been about communicating and sharing immense feelings which he finds impossible to convey in any other way. His Borealis alias was born as a twinned satellite to his work under his birth name. Much like conjoined twins, the two share the same heart and breathe with the same lungs, and even though they speak of similar things, they do it from two different vantage points. According to Jesse, it is better for something to be felt in whole than to be defined and reflected upon in approximation, and this album - his sixth to date and second under the Borealis handle - is a truly wholesome, boundless, gorgeous emotional experience on both the end of its creator and its listener. 

Glittervoice is Somfay's most energetically intense work to date. It is both euphoric and dysphoric and the music itself cannot be pigeonholed into any particular genre - hints of techno, oldschool trance or rave complement each other just to ultimately get lost in an artfully crafted trademark sound. It’s easy to allow this multifaceted, hyperlayered, continuously shapeshifting aural multiverse to deprive you of any form of reason, activate all senses and carry you where no music has before, regardless of where you listen to it. Glittervoice’s 16 tracks encompass everything from visceral warehouse techno to stylish ambient compositions via rapid hypnotic drum loops and trance synths of cosmic proportions, all filtered through his unique etherial aesthetic. 

Having something equally introspective and weighty yet exceptionally club-friendly is a rare feat that could soundtrack any modern techno mecca - be it a big dark room or an open air festival. 
The emergence of Borealis meant an unexpected turn for Somfay, but at the end of the day, much like its worthy genre-defying predecessor, Glittervoice is yet another album not of this reality - a sonic guide to entering “the flow”.

Deepak Verbera, the third LP by Austin’s Spencer Stephenson aka BOTANY, bends the beat-driven path carved by the composer’s first two records into meterless cosmic territory, juxtaposing free jazz arrhythmia with cathedral-filling harmony, ringing off the temple walls with soaring grandeur. The billowing textures that loomed behind his previous output break unabashedly into the foreground, shedding the beats that once stenciled them in. What arises in the absence of discernable rhythm is a psych-inflected scrapbook of atmospheres with tremendous sonic and emotional breadth.  In essence Deepak Verbera is a soundscape record created through methods usually found in hip-hop; vinyl samples, looped vocal phrases, pulsing bass, and warm synths all shimmer with kosmische-indebted splendor, like Popol Vuh with MPCs and a stack of secondhand records.

Roel Funcken officially popped up on the scene in 2010, with his solo debut, titled Vade, out on Ad Noiseam. But fans of electronic music, and IDM in general, have been tracking this Dutch musician for over a decade prior, when, along with his brother, Don, the duo has released some of the genre defining music on labels such as Djak-Up-Bitch, Schematic, Sublight Records, Neo Ouija, n5MD , Arcola (Warp) as the one and only Funckarma. In 2009 the Funcken brothers kicked off their very own, digital-only, Funcken Industry imprint, which hosted a few of their other projects and offshoots, such as Shadow Huntaz, Scone, Quench, Automotive, and the latest from Roel's solo works. Roel continues to influence the evolution of music through numerous releases (Sapper Morton on Analogical Force, Semtinal Convex on Methlab and Prester Hynn on his own imprint to name a few) and active engagement in the community, with music festival curation, mixes on mixlr and soundcloud and weekly playlists on Soundcloud and spotify. Roel's music is advanced in sound design, often incorporating unique experimentation in electronic sound, with cut-up, twisted, atmospheric sonic soundscapes, leaving the cranium always begging for more. His ambient textures maintain a cinematic quality throughout, while his percussive arrangements retain a constantly mutating framework, always reconstructing its rhythm and structure, contradicting complex configurations and minimal design.
