Hailing from Mexico City, Sonido Gallo Negro's exhilarating third album continues their exploration into the psychedelic richness and rhythmic pulse of Peruvian cumbia while at the same reaching for new sounds and textures – such as mambo, cha cha, porro and danzon.

Filled with frenetic, red hot identities and sonorities, Mambo Cósmico is the album that galvanizes the international reputation Sonido Gallo Negro earned through their powerful concerts and their earlier records - Cumbia Salvaje (Savage Cumbia, 2011) and Sendero Místico (Mystical Path, 2014 – released outside of Mexico by Glitterbeat).

Mambo Cósmico is a sonic collage that is not only musical, but also cultural and historical. This combo of nine musicians, seek out a new and unexpected musical cosmos that goes beyond their well-honed Mexican and Latin American influences. Their navigational charts point towards an additional synchronicity of sound and imagination with the Middle East, the Hispanic old world and Africa, as embedded within the Americas.

Of the eleven tracks included on Mambo Cósmico, nine are group originals, Tolú by Lucho Bermúdez and ¿Quién será? by Pablo Beltrán Ruiz being the only cover versions. Also, for the first time some of these pieces include vocals and group choruses.

With their last original release coming in 2016, It may feel like The Busy Twist have shied away from the limelight in recent years but during this time they’ve been travelling and working hard on some of their most ambitious music yet, and in the process have set up their own label Busy Life Records. 

Busy Life is a project focused on joining the dots between West African, South American, Caribbean and UK electronic music by developing a sound which not only melds the sonic genealogy of all four palettes but also presents such crossovers faithfully. Developing an exchange with local artists that works in both directions is key to the label, and crucial to creating borderless music that can be shared with their family worldwide. 

The opening EP on the label ‘Sunny Side’ is a record years in the making and highlights the ever-decreasing gap between UK and modern African music. It is therefore fitting that many of the ideas heard on ‘Sunny Side’ were born during their very first trip to Ghana, and have been continually refined as Afro and UK sounds intertwine year on year. 

The EP is led by strong vocal performances from lead singer Zongo Abongo. An artist from Northern Ghana who has been part of the Busy Life family since its inception. It also features additional vocals from Kyekyeku and Siaka Djarra from Burkina Fasso.

Folk & Røvere er et norsk trip-hop-band med Ulf «Ulph» Nygaard som primus motor, som ble dannet i 1994 i Oslo. Beate S. Lech, senere kjent fra Beady Belle, var bandmedlem på de to første platene. En rekke gjesteartister, deriblant Inger Lise Rypdal, Maria Solheim, Saint Thomas og Arne Scheie har bidratt på senere plater. I 1999 fikk bandet sin første hit med «Yess!» og i 2002 sin største hit med «Utadæsjælåpplevelse» med Ravis vokal, en sang som også ble hans gjennombrudd som vokalist. De fleste sangene til Folk & Røvere er på norsk.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, he was suspended for Xangô ogã at eight years old, which became the awakening to a life dedicated to liturgical percussion. At age of 19 he moved to the United States, where he would remain for 17 years, playing with great names of salsa, Latin jazz, and Afro-Cuban folklore. Back in Brazil, he played and recorded with several Brazilian artists, from Nando Reis to Monobloco, from Ramiro Musotto to Baby do Brazil, from Humberto Gessinger to Pavilhão 9, etc. His first solo CD, "Bá" was nominated for the Brazilian Music Prize, and is now preparing to release his second album, "RITUAL".

The EP includes four tracks. “Ossaim” is an encounter with the God of the forests and the flowers. In this piece of jungle-sound the duo invites us to embark in the woods, the ritual has begun. In the sequence appears “Sarvará”, an edit of a track of the very-very Brazilian ProjetoMujique; of this bridge Brazil-Portugal appears this second track, an electronic ode to Oxalá. “Ovoavoa” is an invitation to the liberation and celebration of life and love. An invitation to smile and dance freely. “Urubu Violeta” finishes the thematic clipping. It is a “musical illustration” of an original poem by actor Rui Queirós de Matos aka Spike that gives voice to the more futuristic composition of the EP. With an organic feel that is the result of an exciting layering, the Portuguese newcomers deliver a cosmic, fresh, unique and emotionally rich production of intentions.

“O Futuro do Passado” is a vivid introduction to the thematic clipping explored by Maria and Luís. With a down tempo ethnic's scene still embryonic Portugal seems to contribute strongly to the artistic extrapolation of the duo. An infinity of perspectives and colours, together with a powerful groove feeling make this project a unique sound experience. With the incessant search for ways of expressing themselves through popular music, Ohxalá delivers in such a different way a sound package that make us reflect on the past and look to the future without fear.
