Fáilte is the Irish word for welcome.  The music was commissioned by Bandmaster John Moore (Belfast Citadel), and was written to mark the commencement of The Salvation Army’s work in Ireland.  
It features the tune ‘To the Eden Above’ which is purported to the first song performed by a Salvation Army delegation in the Emerald Isle.  The other hymn presented is ‘King of Kings, Majesty’ which has been a significant song in the life of the Belfast Citadel corps in the more recent past.  Fáilte Salvation Army was given its premiere at the Belfast Temple Music School Finale in August 2015.

Trombone feature 'Jericho', is based on the well-known traditional American Spiritual, Joshua fit the battle of Jericho. It is set in a uptempo swing idiom for (British) Brass Band and is a good showcase for the trombone section.  It is available in a three or four soloist version.

This was originally arranged for 'Revive O2', a Performing Arts event in the Melbourne Central Division of The Salvation Army in August, 2002 as accompaniment for congregational singing.

Ancient Of Days/Praise, My Soul

Duet for Cornet and Euphonium with band accompaniment based on two songs - "O Lord, our Lord how majestic is your name" and "How excellent is your name, O Lord".  

This is a recording of the premiere, ably handled here by The Belfast Temple Young People's Band of The Salvation Army (David Magookin) and soloists Hannah Murray and Daniel Clarke.  Well done all!

Pursuing Atalanta - trombone solo with band (preview)

This is a sample of 'Psalm for the King' for Brass Band.  It was written in New York, San Francisco and completed in Melbourne in 2002.  These extracts are taken from the premiere performance given by The Melbourne Staff Band at the Commissioning of Cadets in the Camberwell Civic Centre in November 2002. 

This extended work (6'50") commences with musical references to the text ‘King of Kings and Lord of Lords’ from 'The Messiah' (G.F. Handel). A faster tempo introduces the tune Darwalls and the associated words, ‘Rejoice, the Lord is King’. 

The slow middle section features a cornet solo on the tune Hanover to the words ‘O worship the King all glorious above’.
