Compilation of tracks composed by kids. This compilation is a result of a two year of inclusive work with kids from marginalized communities in Cologne, Germany.
Nachklang is a German word for "lingering sound" . The word in this context however describes conceptional approach of our work with children. Being an immigrant comes with being lost, we tried to bring back associative cultural aspects that kids offen are unaware of but subconsciously bits and pieces are always "lingering". We tried to get kids to become more aware of these cultural aspects and create musical expressions in regards of their own emotional experiences, how they define their "background" musically.

It's a bit rough in places, but you can hear the music being created and destroyed as it's happening and I love that most about performing improvised live sets. So I wanted to share the recording with you.

Deep in the Romanian wilderness, beyond the foggy wastelands and the drab greyness of the metropolitan district you can find the base of two musical wizards who invoke the spirit of the past to transmit a very modern interpretation of their nation's musical traditions.

They are known as Livio & Roby and they have been putting their own supernatural twist on house and techno for the past 10 years. Their connection with the global electronic music movement has been channeled via highly influential outlets such as Desolat, VIVa, Saved and Fumakilla. While their physical presence has been felt in a myriad of venues from Buenos Aires to Detroit, and across much of Europe. From dynamic DJ sets and innovative live performances to album projects and a constant flow of cutting edge, dancefloor-based productions the duo remain one of their nation's leading lights in the field.

The tribal rhythms, inspired by Romania's colourful history, penetrate your psyche: the organic instrumentation lifts your spirit; flutes and vocals combine with delicate chimes, while groovy basslines and solemn melodies create a magical concoction. It's a formula that caught the ears of their early supporters, Steve Lawler signed them up to VIVa Music and Berlin stalwart Woody introduced them to the city's music scene via his highly-respected Fumakilla label.


Thanks to the consistently high quality of their output, Livio & Roby have been in constant demand around the globe, sharing the spirit of Romania with the clientele of clubs and festivals across North and South America, Europe and further afield. Today, their endless travels continue, as does their entrancing musical output, from EPs with labels such as Vakant, One Records and Cecille through to their debut Premiesku album, 'Indirect', which came via Desolat. Moving forward in their career saw further adventures around the planet: Premiesku reformed with new music and hit the road with their dazzling live act. Livio & Roby released their own concept album, titled 'Phantom Circle' on Desolat. The duo co-produced each track on Phantom Circle with one of ten different artists: Enzo Siragusa, Martin Buttrich, Guti, Julian Perez, Hector, Ryan Crosson, Cesar Merveille, Andrea Oliva and Premiesku. The album received wide media coverage, adoration from fans and praise from various music press outlets. Livio & Roby are only building on their momentum. R&S founder Renaat Vandepapeliere returns with his personal RV Trax series showcasing the sounds he plays on the dancefloor.  
Part four carries off where the other volumes have left off with more underground electronica and techno.

Veteran French producer DJ Oil has released for the likes of Blue Note (as part of Troublemakers) and BBE.  ‘Addis’ continues his explorations into sample heavy house with a hint of electro that made his recent ‘Bref Avenir’ album such a joy.

Halosaur is a new alias of Stephane Lefrancois another Frenchman who usually goes by SLF on labels like KMS.  Recording as Halosaur lets him indulge his electronica influences and get serious on his modular synth set up.

Tom Flynn has released  for heavyweight labels like Planet E, Dirtybird and Hypercolour.  ‘Avenue A’ balances deep mechanical rhythms with sophisticated piano motifs.

Healing Noises is up and coming French producer Marianne Novomesky.  Her track ‘Palm Tree’ is  dreamy, stripped down, funked up, sun-baked house.

What can you say about an artist who grew up in the sheltered village of Bergisch Gladbach, a suburb of Cologne, and who has enjoyed a classical music education since his childhood? Who next to his training on the piano, trombone and alphorn has also won numerous prizes on "Jugend musiziert", operated for years as a choirmaster and also worked with various church choirs?

These are the exact types of boys who are drawn to the untamed and juicy techno beats that can push a sound system to it's limits. This is also what our Roland decided to do. He has been schooling his ear for techno since he is thirteen years old and became to be a enthusiastic supporter of the Detroit school from an early age. He started to worship artists such as Charles Siegling, Jeff Mills, Petar Dundov and Secret Cinema. Very soon, he came to own analogue synthesisers and music software and tried himself as a producer. So far so good.

But in order to be a good techno producer, one needs a good label and a good mentor. After a confirming nod from Riley, his first release happened in February 2008 on Trapez ltd. Since then Roland has proven himself as a distinctive composer that produces with analogue instruments and rarely employs the usage of various music programmes. His method of producing has proven it's worth at the latest since the big successes of remixes from Minilogue's "Space", Lucio Aquilinas "Disco Bus" or Extrawelt's "Im Garten von Eben".

Roland's music is rhythm on a high level. He does not want to function as a ambassador and thus convey a message. For him, techno is functional. He is fascinated when the crowd can delve into the atmosphere of his music and this can be anything - from the highly ordered structures of total minimalism right up to the wild sample and effect chaos of general bass type sequential harmonies and total atonality. He enjoys the freedom of being able to move within this musical freedom.
