C'est du côté du Japon que vous entraine le label Culture Dub Records pour sa 73ème release en Free Download avec une production made in Tokyo signée Mizuki Akutsu, aka Hummingbird, un pur stepper dynamique sur lequel le chanteur Ras Solo originaire du Mozambique vient louer Jah Rastafari pour de meilleurs lendemains, suivi d'une version Dub taillée pour les Sound Systems puissants... Du Dub mais bien plus encore, une preuve que le mélange est une richesse, qu’il soit musical ou humain !

C’est bien dans le Dub des origines et dans ses techniques de studio que Mizuki Akutsu puise son inspiration pour son projet solo Hummingbird ! Chercheur de son, avec la soif de l’expérimentation, le producteur japonais participe à plusieurs projets du côté de Tokyo au Japon. Il est illustrateur sonore dans le Duo Pers avec Kai Mike et participe entre autres au projet Wardrobes : « Musique x Mode x Culture » !

Mizuki Akutsu délivre des productions avec une touche bien à lui, une touche « Tokyo-style » ! Ses compositions sont à coup sur à base de Dub mais il les fait évoluer dans des contrées Electro Bass Music, percutantes et militantes, tels sa série "Blind For Dub" débuté en 2018 produit sous le nom Hummingbird ! Le producteur Tokyoïte emmène notre style de prédilection vers de nouveaux horizons, décomplexé, armé d’une expérience et d’un talent certain...

Originaire de Maputo au Mozambique mais habitant du côté du Brésil, Ras Soto, petit génie du mic, signe son premier titre à l’age de 9 ans avant de se dévouer à la cause Rasta et de louer Jah sur des versions Reggae, Dancehall, Raggamuffin ou Dub... Artiste versatile, chantant en différentes langues, il a produit plusieurs albums avant de sortir des chansons aux côtés de Hummingbird ou sur le label Fat Bird Recordings entres autres !

In loving memory of the late great Michael "Prophet" Haynes (1957 - 2017)

The Roots Defender Band had the privilege to work close with Prophet for several stage shows and recording sessions in Italy and Europe; an experience never to be forgotten.

This tribute track was arranged, played and recorded by the Roots Defenders at the Satta Studio, Italy, a few weeks after Prophet's bodily departure. A one-shot live reggae rockers piece as a tribute for one of the greatest reggae artists. 

We later took the tracks to Mad Professor to get the proper Ariwa treatment. Now completed, the tribute has been uploaded today 03/03/2019, which would have been Prophet's 62nd earthday. 

Rest in Power.

Be Wise

Roll & Record was created by riddim maker and producer William Spring who is greatly inspired by Jamaican sound system culture from the 70s and 80s. Being a lover of roots, digital and analogue sounds, Spring stands out with his danceable, vintage sounding, productions as well as rythms with a more soulful and melancholic feeling.
After several digital releases with ODGPROD he decided to release his material independently in both digital and vinyl formats.
After having worked with many international artists such as Tenor Youthman, Likkle Jordee, Peter Youthman, Dan I Locks, Lilly Melody, Ranking Joe, Yami Bolo, Tristan Palmer, (and many more), he now performs his productions live and has begun to gain popularity.
